An 850 Question...

Does anyone know what the MHz rating of the two 6532 (C010750) chips in the 850 where? I have a couple of 6532A's which are the

2MHz version of the chip and I was wondering if they would work in an 850. I couldn't find anything specifically about it in the 850

manuals. I know that they are pin for pin compatible. I guess I could plug them in a see what happens, but I thought I'd ask first.

When it comes to CPU's and such, a faster speed than needed is always preferred. Should work fine.

If memory serves right, the originals are rated 1Mhz.

So the A-types should be just fine.

Also, it will not do immediate harm if you would overclock the chips.

They might get quite warm is a while, so that's what you should look out for.

Furthermore, for most chips there is no guarantee that what you buy is as slow as it is marked. You can buy a slower speed grade chip, but it could actually be (almost) the fastest one. The manufacturer only guarantees that it is at least as fast as it is marketed, not as slow.

Since it's pin for pin compatible, I've decided to plug them into an 850 and see what happens. It's going to be a few days though, I'm

having oral surgery tomorrow at 8AM (correction: Later today). I'll let you know what happens.
