Jagosaurus
I've really only used the pre-canned MEDNAFEN on oXbox for TG16. Looking to use dig further in, including the CD & JPN library. What's my best bet? Seems Ootake & Biz Hawk? Magic Engine is paid IIRC. Any advantages there? Three big things I'm looking for: 1. USB controller support with button mapping 2. Ability to run digital CD images (.iso, .bin/.cue, whatever that format may be) versus having to burn CDs in 2017 3. Save states as I play in smaller chunks these days I have 2 machines, Windows 7 and 8 if that matters. DirectX up to date.
Tanooki
Magic Engine doesn't run ISO/rips, just legit media or burns in the proper format. I actually have a paid copy of it from like 15~ years ago and it hasn't been updated in almost 10 years. It's quite solid and doesn't even need the ripped BIOS to run stuff, but in select moments on a few discs it can make sound appear where it won't work on their own coding. I'm sure it's outdated by now but it's solid, yet if you want to run ISO rips it's not for you.

Any one have any luck booting digital disc images in Ootake or BizHawk? Trying to avoid mednafen, but if it is the only option for booting digital disc images, I'll dive down that rabbit hole. R.Cade
If you're coming from MednafenX-PCE on original XBOX, it's hard to beat that. ISO+MP3 (or WAV) and everything just works. On the PC, the main one now is Ootake. It works fine, but unlike the XBOX you have to set everything up manually. Just assumed it wouldn't run digital images as it is 10+ years old.

A lot (most) people have moved on to RetroPi, but XBOX still works fine.

If I'm understanding that correctly... time to break out the oXbox for some Duo CD action.

SS
I still use Magic Engine because it is a fantastic emulator. I purchased a legit copy years ago but have since unfortunately lost my key file and forgotten my login info so I'm running a cracked version of the emulator at the moment. The only real downside to it is, like you said, the need to burn media in order to run CD games. With a good controller, though, you'd be pretty hard pressed to tell the difference between playing TG16 games on Magic Engine VS a real machine. Jagosaurus
Man, I've had a working solution for some time now! While I don't mind front end work to enjoy a proper emulation set up, nice with oXbox there's no mounting software needed. @SS, Magic Engine is on my list to try now. Too many compliments. I had that problem and within the last few years I emailed him as I remembered the old email I used and he looked it up and was able to verify my story and I got it back. Try it couldn't hurt if you have some kind of info to prove it.
