Thomas Jentzsch
I know Namco is still pretty aggressive with their properties. If that's the case, a name chance might not be sufficient. You may also have to change the theme. +johnnywc
What's wrong here? The trap door to the left of Mappy should be flickering. It only becomes a 'hole' that the cats/Mappy can fall into (for ~4 seconds until it closes back up and becomes solid) when you walk over it. Hmm - I don't want to rock the boat or bring unwanted attention to any other projects. Maybe it's a better idea to make a similar game? As far as the name is concerned, since Mappy is a policeman, we can call it something like Mouse Cop or something silly like that. Maybe even have Mappy be a robot e.g. "MousoCop" lol. Any one have any success working with Namco on other projects? Maybe they would be open to allowing a licensed version to be produced for the 2600? Thomas Jentzsch
AFAIK you can protect trademarks, fonts, graphics etc. but not gameplay. So with a different theme and name you should be safe. As for licensing it: Good luck!

But you have to catch the disabled frame. Edited December 2, 2017 by Thomas Jentzsch

+Nathan Strum
Um, Wow! Is the mouse just one Player sprite? Yep. No tricks there - just line-by-line coloring.
+Nathan Strum
And Mike. His sound and music contributions really put that extra layer of polish on these games and really help elevate them above the typical scratches, beeps and booms you expect from a 2600. It's kind of a homebrew dream team. What ever they work on together becomes the next gotta have 2600 game. Mike also did the amazing sounds (and digitized the voices) for Draconian. I've heard some of his preliminary work for Mappy - I think people are going to be blown away.
+Nathan Strum
I gotta ask the question everyone's thinking though. How long will it be called Mappy before being forced to slightly change things up? I know Namco is still pretty aggressive with their properties. I don't think I'd worry about it. Mappy isn't as high profile as some of their other properties. AtariAge tends to fly under the radar. At most, I think only a name change would be needed. "Mouse" translates (phonetically - at least according to Google) to Mausu in Japanese. As far as I know, Princess Rescue was the only title that a company (Nintendo) went after. (And if I recall correctly, that was actually due to the music - which is iconic not just for Mario, but Nintendo itself.) Namco has not seemed to pay any mind to Team Pixelboy's Colecovision release of "Mappy".

iesposta
First attempt 2600 DPC+ music. Main lead channel begins in lower key, higher key when repeat starts. I like the higher key. Thoughts? For this sound demo: Stella 3.9.3 or greater, or fast processor / browser: https://6502ts.github.io/stellerator/#/cartridge-manager MappyDPCMusicMainMerge01.bin For any Mappy game demo: Stella 5.0 or greater (new CDF bankswitch)

+stephena
Stella 3.9.3 or greater, or fast processor / browser: https://6502ts.github.io/stellerator/#/cartridge-manager Personally, I would up the basic requirement of Stella to 5.0 or greater. So many things have changed internally since the 3.x series that it's in many ways a completely re-written emulator.
KevinMos3
The graphics of this look amazing for the 2600! I can't wait to see more...and see it in action. BTW, I wouldn't change it up for copyright unless you're forced to. Other realeases have been done without having to change anything, so I would think this one would be able to be done without drawing too much attention as well. iesposta
Sorry. That does confuse things.Just this sound demo is DPC+ which plays back thru 3.7.2??? +save2600
Ho-Lee-Cow! Another great surprise from the Champ team. I pretty much ignored Mappy all these years (for whatever reasons), but recently got into it thanks to a Namco PnP I bought a while back. Quickly took to it and is my favorite game when I play the system. This VCS version looks incredible and can't wait until it's done!! Sounds great. I agree with higher vs. lower key though: I think the higher key sounds better.
