Novastar
I was setting the color wheel in my Vader 2600 and when I plugged the power into the socket on the 2600, I saw a very small spark. Should I be concerned? Does that mean I should buy a new one?
Osgeld
they do that from time to time, that is one reason people moved away from the phono style plugs for DC, they can momentarily short when plugging / unplugging them
fiddlepaddle
They do that. Recommend not playing in a room saturated with combustible fumes.
RamrodHare
My suggestion is to plug the cord into the Atari before plugging it into the wall.
Novastar
I thought I should plug it in to the Atari first, then the wall too, but it still sparked. Where was the power coming from???
Osgeld
there's a big beer can capacitor in the console, probably a couple in the supply itself
nick3092
I use a power strip to plug all my consoles in. Then I power off the strip with the console still on when Im done and going to put it away. It discharges any caps in the console and the wall wart. Then turn the console off and disconnect everything.
