e5frog
I suggest a message change - if computer wins... for nostalgic reasons. I bet EVERYONE agrees. So... any thoughts about 4-in-a-row? 1 4 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/274416-the-official-channel-f-thread/page/59/#findComment-5554773 Share on other sites

TheFairChild
I think I am missing the reference for "You lose Turkey", not sure what it means. Interested in some context 4-in-a-row should be easy. I thought about it, there is a lot of reuse that could be done between Reversi-F and a 4-in-a-row (changing the game layount/memory structure a bit, the "AI", the pieces movements, gameover detection... most of that is already in independant routines). I will try to give it a go, but no idea when, I've got some personal stuffs coming up till the end of the year, so I will have less time to play with my side projects. If someone wants to beat me to it, no worries Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/274416-the-official-channel-f-thread/page/59/#findComment-5554987 Share on other sites

Interested in some context It was allegedly a phrase Jerry Lawson used when testing the games when ever anyone lost and then the guy who coded videocart 1 put it in as a lose message (per e5frogs message). It's not an Easter egg per say but it is in theory probably the first video game reference (however obscure!). e5frog
I feel I'll be forced to hack it if it's not added volontarily... 1 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/274416-the-official-channel-f-thread/page/59/#findComment-5555299 Share on other sites

Interested in some context If you had lived through the 1970's in America, you would very likely be familiar with the usage of "turkey" as a mild epithet. "Jive turkey" was a fairly common utterance. I believe a search for the phrase "jive turkey" should narrow your search results significantly and give some sense of how it was used, by whom, and in what context. Yeah...you had to be there. My sister and I laughed and laughed when that came up first time, made us wanna play more. Kind of like how the arcade version of GORF would tell you "Nice try space cadet" 1 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/274416-the-official-channel-f-thread/page/59/#findComment-5556223 Share on other sites
