Floppy drive problem.

wanted to check the Rom version because I want to upgrade it to 2.x. After opening I discovered that the floppy drive is lying loose i.e. unattached by screws or whatever. Also I see no way to fix it in a fixed position. See attachments.

 

Is that correct?

 

Also (picture 2) a "thing" was lying loose. Anyone know what this is for or where it is supposed to be?

Solved. It is a bit dumb construction. The "thing" is supposed to be in a hole and keeps the diskdrive in place. No screws or whatever.

3 long screws go up through the centers of the black standoff, from the outside underside of the case. You probably removed them to get the top case off, not knowing they hold the FD in place.

When reassembling, install these 3 screws first into the FD before attempting to put the top case on.

Correct. I removed them because when all visible crews were removed hen the cover could sill not be lifted. It was only much later that I discovered a screen under a sticker. But it is all now corrected.
