Dungeons of Daggorath is one of my all-time favorite Color Computer games (right behind Downland). I had never heard of Castle of Tharoggad until many, many years later. Our local Radio Shack didn't stock many games. Also, we had a Color Computer 2, so I was unfamiliar with the CoCo3 or any of it's library in my youth. Our collection consisted of Downland, Dungeons of Daggorath, Dragon Fire, Demon Attack, Canyon Climber, Stellar Life Line, Pinball, Color Baseball, Chess, & Pooyan (on cassette). There wasn't a game in that bunch that I didn't enjoy. For my older brother & I, this was our main gaming system in the years between Coleco Vision (82-84) and NES (88-). Anyway, when I began re-buying my old collection recently, I was excited to discover that one of my favorite games had gotten a sequel. And then I played it. It pales in comparison to its predecessor in every way. I can't believe how badly they messed with such an amazing formula.
