GeekDragon
I just found out about this game. It is Super Mario Bros on the 2600. Looks great and would love to get a copy. There are none on ebay and I did some looking around and found out it was pulled from the AA store back in 2013. Just wondering why and is there a way I can get a cart of it? Mayhem
Just wondering why Nintendo. The ROM for the game is still available on the forum mind you, so if you have a solution such as Harmony, then you can play it that way.
toptenmaterial
Nintendo. I also wonder what AA's policy would be on making a repro for you. Personally I'm playing it through emulation but a repro might be one way to go. Shawn
Nintendo has lightened up on their stance about derivative fan and homage works. I bet they wouldn't be so harsh about it now as they where then.
Mayhem
Companies are lot stricter about look than feel nowadays, and it's the fact it looked like Super Mario that ran it into trouble, not that it copied the same gameplay. But you could be right, there might be less trouble now than it had originally.
GeekDragon
I would love to get a cart of it. It looked really good for a 2600 game. Really pushed the limits of the system. But I can see why Nintendo came knocking at the door about it.
Supergun
I usually just play it on my Harmony when I care to, but I built my own cart as well, and prefer it that way because who wants "princess rescue" on their cart label? Yuck.
toptenmaterial
I think it is a superbly executed game. With 2600, the game either works or it doesn't, there is little middle ground. This one nails it. I don't own a 2600 anymore. I've played it on PSP, which was good because the particular button layout of that system seems to lend itself well to old games. I've also been playing it on Retropie lately.
