Columbia Video Game Club Magazine (Do you have any?)

Random Terrain

Digitpress.com has issues 4 through 7:

digitpress.com/archives/columbiahouse/index.htm

But does anyone have any more or are there others online that I haven't been able to find so far? I ask because AtariAge says that Bumper Bash, Gas Hog, and Mangia were sold by Columbia House and so far I only see these Spectravision/Spectravideo games:

Mangia and Nexar in number 4.

Planet Patrol, Master Builder and Nexar in number 5.

Planet Patrol in number 6.

Master Builder in number 7.

I'd like to see the ones that included Bumper Bash and Gas Hog. (I'd like to see every Columbia Video Game Club Magazine that sold Atari 2600 games if I could, but those two would be a good start.)

On a semi-related subject, Kick-Man for the Atari 2600 was sold in Number 6 and Number 7. Would they put that game in their "magazine" twice if it wasn't available?

I have to at least on a basic level express interest and find this fascinating, but feel free to ignore me because I am not a true collector and likely don't have a good concept of the value of such a thing.

Most I've spent on a game was $250, and I am guessing something like this is worth...thousands?

Is the game complete then?

I've always been very surprised that Kickman was never found in any form. I would have thought it would have been at least started.

It was not only started but completely finished according to one of the programmers who claims to have worked on it, and there were at least a few more Bally/CBS titles that were finished but never announced or shown anywhere. They may still be out there somewhere.

I never heard that. Tough to believe that they've never been found if that's the case. Based on Columbia advertising for sale, I guess it's possible.

That's a shame, but I know how the world works with these kind of things. It is what it is.

Too true my friend which is why I stopped caring about any of the lost titles. From a historical point of view it would be fantastic to see the finished product but as so many have pointed out about other titles, the owner can do what they want with their property so if it truly exists good luck to who ever has it.

Who knows?

Don't stop believin'

That would be amazing for this title, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Last time I did I was so excited to be one of the first signed up for another release of Pink Panther which was one of my OMG titles. The "developer" up and disappeared and it never happened. I was so bummed.

Here are the scans for issues no. 1 and 3 (under the name CBS Video Game Club, which is what the club was originally called).  Unfortunately, Bumper Bash and Gas Hog don't appear.  But at least we have images of these issues now, as I don't believe these had surfaced online until now.

I didn’t realize that #1 wasn’t available.  I have a copy of that as well as a few others.

Bill, by chance, would you happen to have issue no. 2, or any others beyond no. 7?  If you do, it would be great if you could upload images, as they might contain the info. that Random Terrain is looking for.  In this thread, we've covered 1 through 7, with the exception of 2.  Although I don't know if any issues existed beyond 7.  Thanks.
