Amazing game. Thank you so much Opcode for delivering, after so many hurdles. Patience has paid off!

Now I must report what appears to be a bug: as soon as I get to the rivet La screen, I cannot collect the rivets on the right side of the screen. This prevents me from finishing the level and progressing in the game. I am playing the digital ROM in one-player mode on my AtariMax Ultimate SD using a modified F18a Adam computer.

That is bizarre to say at least. The game was of course play tested like for 10 years. [emoji14] never saw that happening. Are you using a SGM? Can you post a quick video showing the problem?

Thanks!

I certainly don’t want to downplay how amazing this game is! I want to say thank you 1000 times again to Opcode and Grazi for making this a reality. I am glad to have stuck with you! The quality of the game and the reproduction of the arcade programming is absolutely stunning; I’m certain it’s flawless in a

stock ColecoVision, and it’s damn near perfect in all other respects!

Brilliant work my friend!!

Okay, here it is.

Ok, I just played again. Normal here. I know Jon tested on a Phoenix and Atarimax as well just yesterday. So it might be something weird about ADAM+F18A? I will have to investigate. And yes, I know, my CRT is terrible distorted and needing a recap. :P

Yes, I am sure it has to do with my upgraded/modded configuration. I will try stepping down the hardware to see if that makes a difference. If anything, it’ll be good to know what might affect gameplay!

Indeed, but I am intrigued why that is happening. Rivet collision detection isn't hardware based. It is totally software, so F18A doesn't make any difference. So this is a very weird behavior. I am just too tired today, but I will give the code a good look tomorrow and try to figure out what would be wrong.

There is one peculiarity about this game: I am disabling the CV BIOS and use that area as RAM. I don't know if other games have done that before. The ADAM pass the memory test, so in theory it should work just fine... But then the ADAM is just a strange beast...

BTW, if someone here with an ADAM and ROM can also try the game, that would be greatly appreciated.

One last thing you can try. Press and hold * key, then turn on your ADAM. See if the memory test finishes OK.

I have an ADAM with an f18a. I will be sure to test this when I get the game. I just ordered it this morning...or maybe it was late last night.

OK, I did the RAM test, everything checked out OK. Then I proceeded to play the game. First I tried all default options with the US gameplay option. Everything worked fine, no bugs. Then I reset the game, turned back to all the options I had set (7 lives, Luigi as player two, more colors), and again everything works 100% fine.

Looks like the old IT Crowd meme of turning it off and turning it on again do the trick.

Besides the RAM test that Opcode suggested, can you disable 32 sprites per line support that the F18a provides and revert back to 4 sprites per line with flicker.

Just saw your latest IT post, but these "weird" occurrences usually do happen again without any rhyme or reason except to frustrate everyone.

I can try to make that adjustment… Do you remember which jumper that is? Either way, it was working fine upon rebooting. But yes I did want to check that.

Why use an Atarmax cart in the Pheonix when it has its own SD card port? Sorry if I’m misunderstanding something here.

Using an actual cartridge in the cart slot versus using a ColecoVision core that runs off the SD card is not exactly the same thing as you may assume.

For example, you need an alternate version of the Wizard of Wor ROM (with a slight bankswitching alteration) to run the game off an SD card on the Phoenix. But you can run the original physical cart (which contains the original unmodified ROM) on the Phoenix just fine.

@opcode I know this is a bit off topic, but can you mention what other digital downloads members will have access to? Will we see Gradius for example?

We released a couple of color lines as an experiment a couple of months ago. But many more coming. Yes, Gradius, Pac-Man DX, Moon Cresta, Time Pilot, Popeye, all coming digital.

Really nice work Opcode. Game is gorgeous visually. Very happy I got in on this.

Unfortunately someone on social media cant seem to read your instructions about not showing or mentioning this.

I ran into this about 30 minutes ago on my Twitter. It looks like the Opcode copy only the audio is different? Could this be from an earlier version of the game as it was being worked on? I really hope Nintendo doesn't see this over Twitter because we all know what they love to do when they see stuff like this.

I just tried the game on my f18a ADAM and experienced no problems. Game looks great!!!

That video in the tweet is very strange. The copyright says “Atarisoft 1983” and they changed the audio/sound effects to “Super Mario Bros. mushroom”, “Arcade soundFX for intro and DK growl”, and “DK Country background music”.

What’s up with that?

That is a video for the SGM2 version. Does anyone know who the owner of the ColecoVision Lives account is? This isn't the first time, so I am done with that guy...
