General Atarian
I was thinking of looking to pick up one up on ebay, or at least trying anyway. Does anyone know what they can do? What I was hoping to find out is....Is there a way to put all my games (about 400+) on it so I can carry it around when I go game hunting. I would like to carry my list with me. I was thinking of a plam pilot but I think this would be more in tune to collecting. Dont know if this size of data would fit in the Portfolio. Any help or advice you could give would be helpful. Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I couldn't think of where else to put it. Thanks all.
Rob Mitchell
I don't know much about it .. but it is the first real palmtop! And it has MS-DOS built-in. It predates the MS-DOS based HP95LX palmtop by 1 year! With a memory card it should have plenty of storage room for your game lists. The main issue is having the backup cable and software to transfer files .. to/ from your other computers. Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA
General Atarian
I thought i could keep everything local on the unit, if I add games i could add them to my site as normal, then just manually enter the changes in the portfolio. Memory card sounds like the way to go.
eric_ruck
I think if you want geek cool you should go with a Zaurus Linux PDA. The Portfolio is inconveniently large, requires the use of the keyboard, has a sucky screen by today's standards, and you'd have to either keep your games in a text file or write your own DOS program. AtariDude
You can find out more about the Atari Portfolio by going to Curt Vandel's Atari Museum. Rob Mitchell
Still .. I suggest the HP200LX palmtop .. which is a perfect machine out of the box. I program Vectrex games on it .. and maybe soon 2600 games! Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA
tkarner
>Does anyone know what they can do? I once saw this kid use a Portfolio to hack an ATM machine and get $300. Then he used it to hack open the vault in a robotics factory. Oh wait, that was a movie...
