rjchamp3 Posted April 17, 2018 Share Posted April 17, 2018 All of classic gaming and all around gaming could have been marketed, but it just was not done because instead of it being an even playground, they only hyped a small handful of now proven losers and liars and what is even crazier it ruins the entire scene of classic gaming feats and it's historical facts!!!! Both us of had we not went through the garbage we went through, we both be tip top stand alone of gaming and MLB.... It wouldn't even be close And despite I don't have that respect or notary doesn't change the facts!!!! Same for Pete we both did crazy accomplishments in short periods of time... Wiebe is being made out to be a saint when in fact he is not in the least, the man cheated too, so it's all a mess!!!!And where is there evidence that Steve Weibe ever cheated? His first 1 million submission (with the "wipe my bottom" comments from his son) score was removed because there was a box found with Mr Awesome's address on it, and bad blood with Twin Galaxies. Most of them seem to centre around grievances that you have with Twin Galaxies. But I do have to say the following: The way that you are presenting yourself is not helping your case. If anything, it's hurting it. Cynicaster Posted April 18, 2018 Share Posted April 18, 2018 There seem to be a lot of gamers butt-hurt over the fact that Billy Mitchell, Walter Day, Steve Wiebe, etc. managed to make a buck from their involvement with classic gaming. Dwayne Richard, Tim Sczerby, the weird guy posting in this thread about who is going to hell and why... To these guys I have to say, you're missing the whole point. Do you really think that the aforementioned guys made cash strictly due to their gaming ability? No. They made cash because they played characters in King of Kong. That movie made money because it was a classic underdog good guy vs. bad guy story, kind of like Karate Kid or whatever, and those specific guys filled the roles just right. In other words, the movie would not have been a success with just anybody on the screen. If "list of high score achievements" was the only criterion used to select the characters, nobody would care. The reality is, 99.9% of people watching that movie don't give a rat's ass about who has the longest list of world records in decades-old video games; they just want to watch an entertaining movie. Wow...I seriously can't believe they bought that video, hook line and sinker. The whole situation is the fishiest thing I've ever seen. Billy finds out that some guy who's somehow affiliated with his old rival (Mr. Awesome) is trying to beat his score, forces TG to refuse his score, forces him to replicate the score in public, refuses to even show up, sits in his hotel room with a camera man, finds out that Steve is going to beat his score...let's them enjoy their pizza party celebration, then SPECIAL DELIVERY "That wasn't even my high score, I was holding back, here's real evidence, watch this tape. I know it looks very suspicious, but Billy Mitchell says it's authentic!" I'm kind of glad I never watched this, because it probably would've pissed me off. Now that I know how the story ends, it's cool to see the parts where Steve is kicking butt. I'm sure there's two sides to every story, though. It seems really embarrassing, though, that TG would accept Billy's score so easily. It seems like executing those fakes would take some know-how, and by all accounts Billy is not very computer/MAME savvy. What I'm getting at is, it almost makes me wonder if the KoK crew created the tapes--or at least facilitated their creation--to amp up drama in the film. That's exactly what I was thinking. The whole "documentary" reeks of the era when it came out, when reality TV was the only TV, and we had movies like Borat. All it needed was some doofy trombone music during the "There's a Donkey Kong killscreen coming up!" scene "Here's something I've been holding onto, that they've wanted for a long time." *hands top secret HIGH SCORE VHS to Grandma Q*bert.* Yeah, right... 4 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

rjchamp3 Posted April 19, 2018 Share Posted April 19, 2018 Although Cheat Weibe has not been up for discussion of cheating in a long time, anyone that uses common sense and looks into history, knows Wiebe used not only a DD donkey Board but also had not recorded his performance properly, and was given a record and thumbs up by Walter for ONE reason to the KOK, it didn't matter if it was legit. Weibe didn't get a real score for 1000s of tries, he was paid to get better and most of the time, he couldn't even break 500-600k I seen it personally, and was paid to watch him, and Billy Paid me to do it ONE time, at the TAO in Las Vegas.....
