liveinabin
I got hold of a non-working 6-switch woodgrain, figured I'd fix it (I couldn't let it stay broken - It's an Atari!) Anyway, several hours with a multimeter and swapping bits over with my working VCS (just to test), turns out that the TIA chip is shot! Damn, I was hoping it'd just be a bit of soldering I don't have any spares to replace it, could anyone help me out here? (I'll gladly pay or swap stuff) - its a TIA from a PAL vcs if that makes any difference.
DanBoris
You can get them from Best Electronics: http://www.best-electronics-ca.com/ Part number CO11903 (PAL "TIA" 2600) $8.00 Dan
liveinabin
Thanks, but I think they might charge me the earth to post it to UK (US companies often do). Besides, what with it being, amongst other things, the video chip - wouldn't there be a different version in PAL and NTSC 2600s?
garyp
I think the chips are the same. The PAL version just has a different clock freqeuncy (hence different colours etc.) I'm not 100% about this though. The $8 version Best have for sale is marked as PAL. Anybody else have any ideas? DanBoris
I belive the PAL and NTSC TIAs are different. Best Electronics lists the CO104444D as a TIA, and CO11903 as a PAL TIA. Dan
cwilkson
No, no!! The two TIA versions are different! Be sure to get one that is PAL. I think the part number is CO11903, but check with the people at Best Electronics, just to be sure. -Chris
