Good point. Tested it and: This is the Amarok Snowman file I copied to the SD card opened in Atari800MacX Plus, I had most of the files on that card on there for almost two years, and they all seem to have worked before. The three files you see now is after a reformat. Edited September 17 by Steril707
tmp
22 hours ago, Steril707 said: okay, will do... add/edit: here we go... that looks ok, did you do anything before it stopped working? (unplug/plug pbi cable or something, if not, try to unplug it from pbi port and plug again in case there's some bad connection somewhere) you can also try some game that should run on 16kB, e.g. https://a8.fandal.cz/detail.php?files_id=7770 (if it doesn't run, try also with pbi cable unplugged from cart)

I had the cart stored not being plugged in while I had the 600XL in my sideboard. Reconnected everything yesterday, and noticed those problems... 23 minutes ago, tmp said: you can also try some game that should run on 16kB, e.g. https://a8.fandal.cz/detail.php?files_id=7770 (if it doesn't run, try also with pbi cable unplugged from cart) This game runs! With and without the cables connected to the cart... Edited September 18 by Steril707
+DjayBee
Put SimCheck onto your SD and try to boot it. If it succeeds, it should show you the actual RAM size etc. The first post always contains the latest version. https://forums.atariage.com/topic/333084-swutils-simcheck-simtest-osdump/

Steril707
Thanks guys... Will go on testing this out with simcheck and then on my friend's 800XL. And as a last resort sending it back to you, tmp, for seeing what's up.. Thanks for the help, much appreciated...

Now I would like to use the AVG cart unbricker I got from you a long time ago... Questions: 1) does the AVG cart unbricker also work with the Sub cart ? 2) the link for the flasher at www.espressiv.com above gives a 404 error, do you know the current page ? 3) have two PC's here, one with Win 11 and one with Win XP, hopefully the flasher software will run on one of them 4) where do I have to plug in the unbricker ? (My guess is in place of the SIO cable.) Accidentally loaded and executed the firmware. Since my Sub-cart already had the newest firmware, I pressed Reset in less than a second... but it looks like this was already too late and the flash has already been partially erased. Now the cart does not work anymore and all I get is a "Ready" prompt from Atari Basic. Would like to repair it with the AVG Unbricker, if possible and some flasher software which I don't have (and need to download somewhere)... so, help please ! If all else fails, I would send the cart. to you...

+CharlieChaplin
Doob de doob... of course I already powered-off my A8 and now, as said before, the cart is not detected anymore and the A8 only shows the Ready prompt of Atari Basic. So I have to send the cart. to you. PM sent !
Steril707
Okay, tested the cart on my friend's A800XL, and as expected all the sub 64kb games work as expected. But then I tried to run Prince of Persia, and it stopped loading immediately.. Will do some other test cases on that machine next week... Was a bit in a rush today... So on your friend's 800XL was the AVG extended ram enabled before you attempted to load the 128K PoP? If so, which version of PoP image did you try, and had that very same image worked before? For example of the Final (bug fix versions): https://forums.atariage.com/topic/298914-unicorns-season-prince-of-persia-for-the-a8/ On my Side3 I tend to run the Atarimax Car version on my 128k plus enabled A8s. Might be worth seeing if any of the CAR versions run on your AVG on your friend's 800XL (providing the ram expansion function on AVG is enabled.
