Tempest
Actually a Pleiad is the singular form of Pleiades (I looked it up), I think the marquee had it right. Tempest
NE146
Well so far it's you two againsts the software ROMs, main title screen of the actual game itself, several old videogame "strategy" books written about the game, and KLOV for that matter. (for the record, yeah of course I think the name is Pleiades....just playing Devil's Advocate here)
Albert
Well, for what it's worth, the 2600 version is clearly PLEIADES, at least from the title screen: ..Al
slapdash
dont know where ur getting your UH from, cause it sure aint in da spellin' :-) Well, there ain't no schwa on the keyboard! You're right though, "ah" would be closer than "uh" phonetically... I still think it should be "play-ah-deez" though, as "ei" is usually a diphthong that is sounded the way we speak "ay". Albert
You're right though, "ah" would be closer than "uh" phonetically... Yeah, there's not much difference between "AH" and "UH" when you're saying Pleiades. I've probably spoken it both ways. ..Al
NovaXpress
Every time I've hears an astronomy professor refer to the Pleiades, it is always pronounced "play-uh-deez." The name is certainly named after that star cluster so I'm going with it.
Phosphor Dot Fossils
I have a pronouncement to make...I think I want some of these games. (I haven't even downloaded the ROMs to check 'em out - this is just from looking at those big beautiful stacks of carts 'n' boxes.)

NovaXpress
Actually my link was to an astronomy page. Astronomers can't decide between "your-in-us" and "Your-ay-nus" either I guess. Let's just pronouce it "SHAR-DAY"

Godzilla
I read it. Still want 'em. I hope so, I don't think I said anywhere there that I was dissuading anyone from purchasing. Just giving my honest take on the gameplay experience. The collector part of me would buy the games even if they were hugely unfinished and didn't have sound (*Cough* elevator action *Cough*)

krisjohn
That was pretty quick, glad to hear they arrived safely! Have you tried playing them on a PAL television yet? A PAL TV? No. If they have NTSC frame rates then they'll only roll on my PAL-only TV. But I'll give them a go an report back. Typically, between an NTSC cart and a PAL deck, I end up experiencing "PAL-60" on my big Phillips Matchline TV, which can more or less sync to anything. I'll report back with that experience too. It's the solution to a riddle in The Bard's Tale, right? Yep The scary thing about the Bards Tale is, that after all these years I still have all those spells memorized: ARFI = Arctic Fire STTO = Stone Touch MYSH = Mystical Shield YMCA = Ybarras Mystical Coat of Armor ... Strange, eh? Greetings, Manuel
