atarilovesyou
https://www.resetera.com/threads/retro-bit-is-making-an-officially-licensed-metal-storm-nes-reprint.92532/ I think I will be in this one as I've been wanting it a long time. That said, if this release causes a nice drop in price of the seriously inflated original, maybe it would be smart to wait. As a collector I would always prefer an original, but Retrobit does a nice job with these repros. Thoughts?...if you're not a collector, please feel free to waste your time telling me your opinions on comments I'll heartily ignore Edited January 19, 2019 by atarilovesyou

dj_convoy
Releasing stuff like this that's hard to get and an excellent game in it's own right makes about a zillion times more sense to me than rereleasing, say, Street Fighter II in a new shell. DragonGrafx-16
I used to have this game (the real thing). I had bought it for $5 about 10 years ago. I sold it last yer for $90 so I could buy Soldier Blade for my PC-Engine.
atarilovesyou
I have seen Metal Storm in these parts for no less than 300 CDN...so I obviously need to look harder! I've also noticed not much mention of the whole 'fire hazard' warning with post SF2 releases...was it just a marketing gimmick to draw more attention? You'd think every game they release would need that disclaimer.

Tanooki
I used to have this game (the real thing). I had bought it for $5 about 10 years ago. I sold it last yer for $90 so I could buy Soldier Blade for my PC-Engine. I did the same, I've had it twice in the last 10 years and I liked it plenty, just not enough for the value behind it so it went to better things for me, and a better place for someone to hopefully enjoy playing. Metal Storm is a decent game, hard but fair, with a pretty unique gravity mechanic to it. Few games follow the mold, but if you want a recommendation that would seem off the wall try Wendy Every Witch Way on GBC (only format) from Wayforward(shantae guys) as it plays the same mechanics. This re-issue seems nice and all, a collector but non-collector item given the cruddy price speculators have caused the original to be. Usually just the cart for that price, believe it or not. Another meet is coming up in April so I will be looking for it again.
ApolloBoy
I'm definitely planning on getting the rerelease, I had the NES version when I was little and I stupidly gave it away to my brother years ago. No way I'm getting the original release and even the Famicom version is up there in price these days.
