I have two mega drive 1s, a composite cable (which I use with my C64 so I know it works) and an RGB cable.

If I plug the RGB cable in I get a white line flash when I turn it on but otherwise black and silent except occasinal wavy strips of colour. If I have RF plugged in at the same time, the RF doesn't output anything.

If I plug the composite cable in I get a white flash when turned on but black otherwise. If I have RF plugged in at the same time the RF broadcasts to the TV.

This is the same with both of my Mega Drive 1s. (Both PAL, one european one Hong Kong)

I'm sure I used the composite cable successfully in the past, possibly 3 or more years ago.

Anyone any ideas what the fault could be? Can't get the heatsink off so hopefully nothing under that,

EDIT: I'm a dumbass Forgot that C64 hasa different pin out so you get the vieo froma different plug on the cable.

But it turns out that the PC Engine Duo has the same cable. Now I have them both running composite fine. But the RGB cables still don't work, though with some wiggling did get some sound coming through in addtition to the wavy coloured lines. Starting to think the RGB cables are just crappy. (Or maybe they are ZX Spectrum Cables)
