carlsson
Hubub ok Eric you got me I have no idea but somehow scored a 1 in the third total ??? time to read the instructions!! It is a DDR game (no, not about East Germany, but dancing) so you should match the joystick direction with the arrow underneath the vertical bar. I'll try this some more, effective in its simplicity. Plates - NO I didn't see any ? there was nothing?!! I saw them, but you need to keep your eye on the screen all the time. If you lose concentration, you lose the game. UFO Talk - another kaboomer but too slow/easy and no score but a great example of a simple game I counted number of won rounds in a row as a score, e.g. W:6 in my case. Also played Minibros (.xex) had a corrupt screen booting but managed to run it from a DOS boot scored 250. Again amazing effort. This one and some others were made in Fast BASIC and you need to boot it with Option key held down, it seems. It may appear unintuitive to disable BASIC when playing a BASIC game but as these entries were not written for the built-in version of BASIC, it kind of makes sense.

I was wondering how we could have similar % cleared on world 2 but yet you scored 13k more than me. However i forgot to factor in the 5k TRBB bonus ? I guess I shot more stuff! What about the other 8K? ! As the rooms respawn I don't know if the score is that important - similar to Shamus, ok I really need to read up on this now! Can't play tomorrow but hope to tackle 3rd stage on Weds btw the author may be reading here folks [edit] OH 30K my scribble was bad! [edit] Read the docs (on Berks 4 Thread first post) so the % is just for the destroyable blocks, clearing them makes the screens harder so fair enough. I played Major Blink again on Master 114,765 I did a few screens but was only out by running into things being careless - for a future Idead perhaps the boxes could count down in score or something to give you an incentive to get a certain one - might have to replay Omnidor(?) was it that? to see how that compares? Also Kid Grid came to mind Edited April 8, 2019 by therealbountybob
McKong
I guess if you shoot all the blocks in all the rooms you would achieve 100%? I think that would take too long and would be very tedious Edited April 8, 2019 by McKong

I'm finding it quite relaxing to play so far and the password and map system is great
McKong
I haven't found it too difficult yet, but the difficulty increases steadily. I'm glad that World 4 is broken up in to zones with passwords, as it takes a while to play. I played zone 1 and 2 earlier but had to retire as I ran out of time
carlsson
I was also thinking about those Amidar games where the bonus counts down. IIRC Time Runner which we played in 2017 worked like that. However Major Blink isn't strictly an Amidar clone, so it mustn't have the same features.Regarding Berks 4, I kind of expected there was a hidden timer bonus which would make it worthwhile to finish each world as soon as possible, but apparently not. Perhaps scoring should be based on level reached, number of keys remaining (if you can remember) and score in third hand. Edit: Oh well, I got to play a teeny bit as well. I don't remember playing this before but may have done all those years ago. It's really good and definitely worth a play in the HSC some time I remembered it being quite tricky but yes let's poll it soon  Completed World 3 48,530 49% still using the maps a lot, might try and use them less as the shot blocks being remembered gives a clue to where you have been. p.s. erichenneke
Hubub ok Eric you got me I have no idea but somehow scored a 1 in the third total ??? time to read the instructions!! It's like a simplified dance revolution type game, or parapa the rapper came to mind. You just try to time it so you press the correct direction on the joystick at the moment the arrow is under the vertical bar in middle of screen. Gets progressively faster and much more challenging over time. At 180pts, be prepared, things change. Also, remember that this is pur80, so it was coded for plain Atari BASIC!!! It will also run as-is in altirra basic, but it will be really fast! To run it in TBXL a minor change has to be made to one value in the code, but then it is insanely fast. So, if you ran it in TBXL as-is that would explain why it made no sense to you because you wouldn't have even seen the arrows! So, make sure you are in Atari BASIC and try it again . It is simple to play, hard to master. Edited April 10, 2019 by erichenneke
+therealbountybob
Berks Four Completed the first part of World 4 - I shot *every* block and used the map less, though it doesn't show % completed for a part stages. I liked the new game elements to keep it interesting. I carried onto the 2nd part and then unfortunately was out as my joystick button was misbehaving (!!) so will carry on using the password.

You also have listed yourself in 4th place on reactorX without a 3rd place. I don't know what Pic Plus is, but I tried Pixelated Puzzle though I didn't finish it.In total I posted scores on 12 of the 10 Liners games, plus that I tried Bouncy, Lander, Minilife which are not scoring. Quite possibly we had too many games to chew on this round. Also I improved my score on Hubbub a little, now at 105 pts.

vitoco
A note about BASIC TENLINERS: Every game must be played using the corresponding BASIC flavour. Some of them have specific memory requirements, and they might fail or crash is those are not available. Common problems are: A game designed for Atari BASIC became fast and unplayable in TurboBasic XL. FastBasic games do not require BASIC ROM, and they might try to set up the playfield in that memory area. TurboBasic XL games might fail with an unexpected error if they are loaded in Atari BASIC. I made a compilation disk with the 20 tenliners from this year's contest. It must be loaded in an 800XL or 130XE with internal BASIC enabled (boot without pressing the OPTION key). The included menu program will disable BASIC when the selected game requires, and it will autoload TurboBasic XL if it is needed. My compilation disk in ATR format can be downloaded from my 10liners page, as well as the compilations for previous NOMAM contests.
vitoco
I've played all tenliners, and these are my scores: Amen [bREAK]: No score... Bomber: (I played it in a real 800XL, but I don't remember the score... I'l try again) Bounce & Catch: 383 (registered on emulator) Bouncy: Won at the first try without adjusting neither the angle nor the speed. Dragon Trainer: 1 Floody Bot: 2923 at level K Garden: No score. 22 "flowers" before the attract mode. Hubbub: 8 Lander: No score, but failed almos half of the times. License Plates: 14 robbers. Mini Bros: 4350 Mini Character Editor: No score, but it would be easy to get the hex codes for my next games. Minilife: I got a static disposition at step ~65 Missile 10: 54. Missile: 371 (pressing 6, 7 or 8 quickly without stop until time is over) Neverending Sorry: 6 and aborted. Pixelated Puzzle: 102 in Kirby puzzle. Poke Pig: 0 (I always got error 9) reactorX: 195, but only one particle was removed before meltdown. UFO Attack: Wave 11. Most of them were run in Altirra. I'll try them in a real computer before the weekend.
