MEGA MENU for TIPI

Hello,

In the last few days I received feedback from Vorticon with some ideas to make
the menu control in the mega menu a bit more comfortable.

 

Here is the result:

MEGA MENU v2.50 – New version:  Jul / 24 / 2020

MM250.zip                  The complete package with all demo programs and the Gameshelf programs.

 

MM250_UPDATE.zip     Only the files you need for an update of an existing menu system.
                                        Easy copy the files to the directory TIPI.MM.

 

MegaMenu-250.pdf      The manual with the extensions of the new version.

 

 

New in version 2.50

This version contains some new commands for comfortable control of the menu system.
- FCTN+3            

Deletes a menu item – The program asks for the item 1-9 or A-U.
If the menu item is a submenu call with a menu configuration file, the program
asks whether this file should also be deleted. You can answer “Y”es or “N”o.
If the menu item is not to be deleted, press ENTER to return to the menu view

 

- FCTN+9            

Always changes to the main menu 1/3.

 

- FCTN+S

Changes the main menu to the left.
When the main menu 1/3 is displayed, FCTN + S changes to the main menu 3/3,   
a new entry to 2/3, the next entry again to the main menu 1/3.
If a submenu is currently displayed, FCTN + S changes back to the menu from
which the submenu was called. This function remembers up to 5 submenu calls.

 

- FCTN+D

Changes the main menu to the right.
When the main menu 1/3 is displayed, FCTN + D changes to the main menu 2/3,   
a new entry to 3/3, the next entry again to the main menu 1/3.
If a submenu is currently displayed the menu points to the next submenu if it has  
been selected beforehand. The function remembers up to 5 submenu calls.

 

Now you can configure a menu item to run a program from a Ram disk or from a Hard disk drive.

To run for example the program ARC3 from the Ram Disk Drive “DSKE.”
The configuration shows in the picture below.

The Device names can be DSK1 to DSK9 or DSKA to DSKZ.
It should also be possible to use IDE1 to IDE9 or IDEA to IDEZ (not testet yet!).

 

There are some more improvements about error messages for the file handling.

Update Mega Menu from version 2.48 to 2.50

If you want to update your existing Mega Menu system from the version 2.48 to the
version 2.50 you can easy unzip the file MM250_update.ZIP in your TIPI folder TIPI.MM.
This change seven files in the Mega Menu root path:

TIPI.MM.MM

TIPI.MM.MM-X
TIPI.MM.MM-Y
TIPI.MM.MM-ENG
TIPI.MM.MM-GER
TIPI.MM.MMHELP-ENG

TIPI.MM.MMHELP-GER

For the additional programs that are included in the package, I will conduct a separate

Here is the next version of the Mega Menu program. Again Vorticon gave me some recommendations for expanding the program.
 

MEGA MENU v2.52 – New version:  Aug / 12 / 2020

 

New in version 2.52

 

- New command CTRL+4 to map DSK4 to a TIPI path.
  You can change the mapping of DSK4 for the tipi system. The menu screen still   
  shows you the DSK1, DSK2 and DSK3 mapping.

 

- Select a menu item to configure from the displayed menu screen.
  To make it easier to configure a free menu item or to find the name of a menu item
  to be changed, you can now select the menu item to be changed from the menu screen.

 

- Exit the menu item configuration screen without changings.
  By entering the dot character "." at the first entry position you can cancel the
  configuration of a menu item at any time without making changes.

 

- Support for a directory length of up to 28 characters + 10 characters for the
  program name. The disk mapping commands CTRL1-4 now support the entry of
  directory path lengths of up to 28 characters.

Now without the device name and without the program name you can map a directory up to 28 characters long.

 

 

To configure a menu item, now you can select it on the dispayed menu screen. So it's much easier to remember the item.

Hi to all TI99 users,

 

after a long time, today I release my new Mega Menu version.

 

MEGA MENU v2.54 – New version:  Oct / 02 / 2022

 

New in version 2.54

- The menu screen now shows the temperature and humidity for the configured 4-character 
   airport code. You can configure the 4-letter airport code in the setup program. To run the 
   setup program, type CTRL + T on the Mega Menu screen.

- CTRL + W shows a slightly improved airport weather program. Now you can display the same 
   weather again, enter a new airport code or go back to the Mega Menu program.

- CTRL + D displays the disk catalog, now you can enter any path like "IDE1.TIBASE." or 
   "TIPI.MM.P.MP." and you can choose whether you want to display a different path or jump 
   back to the Mega Menu program.

- Support for running a program from the TIPI root directory such as "TIPI.TIPICFG".

- In the extended SETUP the Mega Menu texts are now configurable in 5 languages:
   ENGLISH, GERMAN, ITALIAN, SPANISH, FRENCH

- The configured language is displayed on the menu title screen.

- The Help screen (CTRL+H) shows the help text in the selected language.

- Additional configuration for selecting and launching more than 400 compiled Basic and Extended Basic games. 
   Many Thanks to tmop69 for providing these compiled TI-Basic and TI-Extended Basic games.

Today there is a new workshop #4
 

Due to current events, I have described the configuration options of the program in a short guide.

 

Part A contains the description of the configuration via the shortcut command CTRL+T.
The following settings are possible:
- Menu language English, German, Italian, Spanish and French.
- Program path to the Remind Me calendar program.
- The minutes for the reminder before reaching the appointment entered in Remind Me.
- The 4-digit ACIO Airport Code to display temperature and humidity.
- The display of the temperature in degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit.
- The format of the date display
The setup program saves these settings in the MM-SETUP file.

 

In part B, I will go into how the MM-SETUP file can be edited to make these settings manually.

It‘s fine to see your TI is up and running with the new tipi software and the Mega Menu program. I didn‘t update my tipies right now, but it is on my shortlist. Have much fun with our TI-99 hobby.

I finally got a chance to try the latest version of MM, and overall it works but it locks up when trying to access the setup menu via the CTRL-T command. I tried it on 2 different TIPI's with similar results. Any hints?

Hi, I will look at the setup menu. During the final tests I had a similar problem. So maybe the last change is not in the version.

Hi again,

 

it seems that the mm-setup file is not correct when it is extract from the zip-file.

After I copied the zip file (from atariage post) to the MM folder all seems to be OK but in the MM-SETUP file there were two more entries and in line 9 it was a 9 what is definitly wrong.
Line 9 could be 1 to 5 for German, English, Italiano, Espanol and French. 

The correct MM-SETUP should look as this:
