Managing files for Raspberry Pi - What do you do?

Two well known alternatives are Lakka & Recalbox.

They're supposed to be easier to handle than RetroPie, though, tbh Retropie is not that complex if you just want to play games on a standard setup. And you will always have to do some basic stuff on all images, like enabling WiFi or SSHing in and out.

 

There are also some standalone emulators, such as BMC (C64), ZX Baremulator (Spectrum) and I think Amibian, for Amiga? I think you can also run Advance Mame as standalone. But that probably requires some Linux wizardry.
