I bought a physical copy and wanted to stream it on my Youtube channel. I usually use an emulator, but am unable to dump the cart using the Maxflash device. I'm assuming it's because it's "Melody enhanced" in some way. So, I have 2 questions: 1) If you don't mind disclosing, how are you using the Melody chip? 2) Is there a way I can get a ROM of this game to play in Stella? Like I said, I own the physical box/cart. Thanks! Inboxed you On 10/11/2021 at 2:46 PM, StephenJ said: I want to get the physical copy of this game as well...but I'm waiting for a no-box option in the AA store. LatchKeyKid
Late to the homebrew party (as always it seems as a noob to the scene!) but just wanted to pop in and say the game looks great. I saw a mention of this possibly being released as a download for emulators and was curious if enough time had passed for that to be a possibility. Regardless, it looks like a blast!

Thanks for your interest in the game. Albert is planning to have downloading roms a purchasable option on AtariAge. I believe he said he was going to set it up after the forums were updated and PRGE was over. So hopefully this will happen soon. 1

On the store, it has an option for a box upgrade but I was assuming that the baseline option is still a cartridge (just without the aforementioned box). Also, do these cartridges work in the new 2600+? Thanks in advance and congrats again for releasing such a great looking title.
mickmuze
Very sorry for such a late reply. Unfortunately I still don't have any information on a rom release. That would all be up to Albert. I know he's still working on it but I'm not sure how far along he has got on a system for that. I really really wish that my games would work on the Atari 2600+ but they do not. The Atari 2600+ does not support DPC+ games. Hopefully Atari will release a more compatible system in the future. I really love the look and feel of the Atari 2600+, it's such a great product in many ways. I'd love to see an FPGA version of it though. I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

That is a high priority for me, getting off the store I'm currently using and moving to a new, considerably more capable platform. This will happen early in the new year, and I will have additional resources from Atari to make sure it happens. We are actively discussing this now. 9 minutes ago, mickmuze said: I really really wish that my games would work on the Atari 2600+ but they do not. The Atari 2600+ does not support DPC+ games. Don't lose hope yet, it's possible we will get DPC+ and CDFJ games working on the 2600+, it's something we are working towards. ..Al

john_q_atari
@Albert@mickmuze I am having a problem with the game on my 7800. I can't exit the first level. When I climb on the ladder the character just lowers himself becoming almost invisible but the level never changes and I can climb off the ladder again. I'm stuck on the 1st level even after exploring all the rooms and killing all the scorpions. I even tried the game on the 2600 I built from scratch and the same thing happens. Is it possible I have a bad cartridge? On the 2600+ with original firmware I get "Loading Game Failed" but maybe that is expected... john_q_atari
Okay this is strange. I updated my 2600+ to the lastest firmware and dumper and ran the game. I can get to the next level on the 2600+ but NOT on my custom created 2600Plus nor on my UAV modded Atari 7800 console, nor on my 2600rbg modded Vader 2600... Has anyone else ever had this problem? mickmuze
Hi john_q_atari, I’m guessing that was you that just contact me by email? I just tried writing you back but my email seems to be currently offline.. I’ll leave my reply here: Quote I’m sorry you are having trouble with Deepstone Catacomb. That sounds like it would be very frustrating. I’ve heard of this happening before I believe and with a 7800 as well. From what I know there is five different variants of the 7800 (I think)? And some of them have trouble with bank switching titles (such as some Activision games and Deepstone Catacomb). That is most likely what is happening here? I don’t own a 7800 myself and have not tested it on that machine, however I have tested the hell out of it on a 2600 and haven’t heard of anyone having any issues on the original hardware. Really sorry you’re having this problem. I would contact Albert about this and let him know what is going on. I see you’ve tagged Albert already. That’s very strange that it’s not working on the Vader system as well? At the very least I’m glad you are able to play it on the 2600+. I would like to know more about this myself if anyone has some ideas.
john_q_atari
Yes that was me that contacted you by email. I'm guessing there is some sort of fault or incompatibility with the board Albert used for the game and the 2600+ accesses it differently, in that it just dumps the contents at the very beginning and then ignores it thereafter where as actual consoles are sending various addresses and continually read the responses from the board as the game is played. SonjaL
How do I buy the game for emulator? I don't need the cartridge.

Albert is planning to start selling roms still as far as I know. Once he does it will be available on AtariAge’s rom store.
