The difficulty doesn't seem to change after that, although some boards seem trickier due to the appearance of Sam / Slick and the number of discs each stage gives you. Level 9 is the highest level and will be repeated after you beat its 4 stages. It's important to build up a bunch of extra Qbert, because to solve the Level 6 and higher cubes, you might need to jump off and sacrifice a life.
