gfvh
I tried many times to make a racer game. My last attempt was Sunset Forest Rider. This is the "sequel". It's a WIP. I wanted to make something like Out Run. With hills and all that stuff. It has the hills. But not the curves. It's a straight road. At least for now. KevinMos3
Can you attach the bin here? I'm not able to download from the site. My provider has it blocked as a malware site. Update: I was able to use my phone to save it to google drive and download from there. Uploading the bin here may still be helpful to someone else though. I'm always interested in racing games. Your Sunset Rider was looking promising and I was hoping to see it progress. This one looks interesting as well, but that sound is very jarring. gfvh
The new site is not showing attachments by now. Thats why I didnt upload it. Thanks for your comments. They mean a lot to me.
MemberAtarian
Unfortunately, the game is like a complete mess. ? Everything is a bit off. The music is the soviet hymn on purpose, or it's just really similar to it?
gfvh
It is unintended. But I don't think it's very similar. Maybe the first couple of notes.
gfvh
My game is the "client budget" version of Out Run. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2576778445796516&id=1339821916158848&sfnsn=mo

I tend to think my games are completed, but I understand that not anyone think they are. I know it is lacking a lot of things but instead of resuming it I prefer to redo it from scratch. Maybe the next game following this.
gfvh
New file with some very minor improvements. I usually don't reply but edit the original post, but I don't know how to do that in the new site, at least in the mobile version. suni.bin sunset2i.txt
gfvh
New update. Road moving under the motorcycle. Velocity decreases when bumping a car. sunk.bin sunset2k.txt
gfvh
I wanted to do curves, but it's difficult with the reflected playfield, but what if I do like in Outrun? A forking road! And later I will do different scenarios for different paths. It's in testing phase so be patient ... sunn.bin sunset2n.txt

gfvh
Now you can choose the way when the road splits, one way goes to the desert, the other one goes to the pole. And I lowered the volume of the melody so you don't have to listen to that awful tune (though I think it is awesome). sunv.bin sunset2v.txt

gfvh
Now there is a "map" below showing your path along the route. And a different scenery with a night setting. SUNSETZ2.BIN sunsetz2.txt Edited July 27, 2019 by gfvh
gfvh
The map has now color according to what type of terrain you crossed there. I want to do a real tree, like the map in Outrun. This is a previous warming. sunsetz4.txt zunz4.bin
KevinMos3
I'm glad to see your continued work on this. However, IMHO you HAVE to do something about that music. Whenever I want to try a rom, I have to put the volume on mute or turn it WAY down. I know you said you lowered it, but it's still very overpowering. There are a couple of things I seem to be missing. Where is the map? Are there collisions yet? I hear a sound when I hit a car, but I don't see any effect. If I press up or down, it causes me to stop and I've not been able to get it to resume. What are the controls?
gfvh
The map is a line at the bottom that gets longer every time you choose a way. It is more skewed if you choose the left path or straight if you choose the left one. And the starting point is up and the line gets longer in the "down" direction. You will see it better in the version where the map has no colors. I said "map" (with quotes) for a reason. It's hardly a map. When you hit a car, velocity decreases. When you accelerate a lot the engine of the bike gets broken. It is a bug but I converted it in a feature. I will decrease the volume even more in the next version. The controls are right, left, up to accelerate and down to decelerate. Edited July 31, 2019 by gfvh
gfvh
New update. Now you control 3 bikers. And need to avoid the police. It is the yellow spot in the map. zunz8.bin sunsetz8.txt
gfvh
I'm sorry for the sound, I tried to decrease the volume, but I did it at my office and I don't have sound there. It sounds awful so I reverted to a previous state of the sound, but the volume of the melody is set to 2, it was set to 4 before. sunsetz9.txt zunz9.bin

Every time I press Up or Down, the biker freezes in place and the road stops moving. There's no way to get moving again, even with reset. I have to re-load the ROM to start over. The only way I see acceleration is by holding the button.
gfvh
That is a bug that I made it into a feature. You can only accelerate by pressing the up button once. And for a little time. Not to hold it down too much. But I will fix it if it is too much a nuisance.
gfvh
Bug-feature fixed! And volume decreased without sounding very bad. zunz10.bin sunsetz10.txt

gfvh
When you reach the end of the road, a map appears in the form of a binary tree and shows your itinerary. Its a bit rough but thats what I could do. zunzz7.bin sunsetzzz7.txt
