Flojomojo
Neat! The best part of this for me is easy launch from Big Picture, Steam controller support, and streaming to mobile and TV. https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2019/07/retroarch-the-worlds-largest-emulation-front-end-coming-to-steam-july-30/
+stephena
I guess that means the latest Stella is coming to Steam too. We're in the process of getting Stella 6.1 working with libretro. I'd say it's already 90% there at this point. 2
ClassicGMR
I dunno. How will the common people get tech support from them without mentioning emulation, ROMs or BIOS files? Steam even treats just the "emulator talk" like piracy and shuts down almost all threads. I half expect this to get shut down almost immediately either by Nintendo or Steam themselves. I hope I am wrong but I don't see how this is viable without massive deals with the game companies/developers for GAME PACKS (not ROM PACKS people) to make all this a viable Steam option. EDIT: After I replied I checked out your link. Everything I said is in there. Shock me... Flojomojo
They can link to public domain ROMs, done. ✅ Emulators aren't illegal, and Valve doesn't need to hold the hands of people unable or unwilling to figure out a piece of free software. ClassicGMR
Its not Valve I'm worried about. Steam has always hated this stuff. Hate someone to lose their posting privilege because they asked a question. And there are a ton of PD games out there people can play it is true.
snes2600
https://www.tomshardware.com/news/retroarch-steam,39866.html I think this possibly sums up Steam's thoughts. Since Libretro (Free2Play) could create more novice developers entering the Steamworks scene, they'll ignore the "emulator" legal red tape.
