Bluetooth Controller Adapter?

Has anyone tried the VCS modern controller? I can't get it to work. It acts like it's connected but the buttons don't do anything. I've tried a couple of configurations and no change. I got my 8bitdo controller working but I really want to get the VCS pad working.

Now that I got a VCS I'm planning to try that specifically as well. I just need these BT adapters to come back in stock again.

Personally I like the 8bitdo and 3 button configuration style (Genesis and Saturn) since it mimmicks the Jaguar 3 button

So has anyone got any game using the jRISCs to read the pad to work?

So far, I can only get games that use the 68000 to poll the pads to work.

U-235SE? Nope

LSP Player? Nope

RAPTOR GPU Pad Input? Nope

Oddly, ZeroPlayer stuff does work, but the rest is a bust.

Very dissapointed - bought it for the newer stuff, there's zero mention on the store page that it just doesn't work ?

From the website only four titles are listed with issues:

That's fine and all, but you might want to list the fact that pretty much all after-market games don't work.

after digging around I found this nugget on the GitHub page:

I can't really fix the other 3 games, the games is simply reading back the JOYSTICK/JOYPAD register too quickly after writing to it. TTL chip can handle it since they probably transition output in the 10ns, Using pretty much all the trick I could think off the ESP32 can only do between 300ns and 400ns transition.

This implies that this issue also cannot be fixed with a future update.

That's because it uses the 68k to read the "standard" buttons ; only the rotary and mouse are handled on the DSP. It also includes a small delay between setting the bank and reading the buttons states (this was to be extra sure that it'd work reliably even when using TeamTaps and/or extension cables -- someone had reported an issue related to that).

I'm not so sure. I've never played with the ESP32, but the specs I found say it is dual-core and that the clock speed ranges from 80 MHz to 240 MHz. With such specs it should be possible to do better than 300 ns (but you may need assembly code for that).

And it wont work at all with most homebrew.

Interesting.  Tried it on Joust and left, flap, and most number buttons would work, but not right and down for some reason.

Because it doesn't poll often enough. Its all in the thread.  It's not the homebrew that needs fixing....

Little bit of feedback I got from the seller, who talked to the manufacturer:

"

I just asked the manufacturer and he said "Many homebrew games use a completely different method than retail games, which has different timings and cause issues."
If you look under https://www.humblebazooka.com/2022/04/05/blueretro-adapter-instructions/ there's a section of "known issues and quirks" that mentions the homebrew compatibility and also some retail game issues, they mention a controller preset called "Jaguar cycle shift" that you could try maybe."

Jaguar Cycle Shift?   Anyone tried that and did that improve things much?

Yeah it basically makes it not work in a different way so at least the bttons can map, but not to the correct ones.

Last I spoke to the guy making it his attitude was "you need to remake all the homebrew to work with this" ....

Which is an awesome attitude to have, because it saved me wasting money on shit that doesn't work.
