I changed Olive, did some minor tweaks on Popeye and Brutus

and at last changed the bottles with Playsoft's magic thingy :D

The monochrome punch stays, I love it !!

Olive turned out very well and overall this hack is a substantial improvement to the game.

This is really nicely done.  The new Olive graphic is a good improvement.  The best part of the tweaks, though, is the improved punching ability.  The original was so hard to time correctly; it's just about perfect now.

But if you referring the mechanics of the punch, you have to thank Playsoft for his modified code !

My contribution is purely artistic :D

And yes, this is really the final version !

Always with the support of Playsoft, we now have a fully functioning sea hug (witch) in all her 2 frame ugly glory :D

Here is the new 'sprite' for her (the two frames share the lower right portion, that's why the foot remain stationary..)

I agree that a .car file would be nice.  In the time being though, have you tried using Maxflash Studio to make a 1MB .car file in that and then adding it to your TheCart! file?

I took an NTSC screenshot (with Altirra) to see the witch:

Seeing post #90, the witch looks closer / similar with: 56, FC, 24; Left Stairs: 2A.

As complement, I was using this palette with good results, it's almost the same to the defaults in Altirra.

Time ago Fantomas kindly sent me a palette that helped me a lot. Then I found and created this smaller image for color comparisons:

In overall very good.

Also, maybe I would remove the smoke because is not appropriate for nowadays.

Removing the pipe smoke would be a subtle thing but as a father of a little guy that may play this game in a few years, it would be a nice touch.

 

Just wondering if it was possible to make the sea hag's head a little bit smaller, in keeping with the arcade.

It's Popeye guys.  He smokes a pipe.  Goes toot, toot.  Geez, deal with it lol.

 

Btw, having raised 3 boys myself, you probably will have bigger things to concern yourself with than if your 'little guy' sees a puff of smoke come up from a cartoon pipe.

 

Anyway, I'll drop the subject. It's just amusing to me, sorry.
