digdugnate
I know, I know, yet another game post on the Switch board from me, lol. I picked up 'Rad' today on the Switch. I haven't had much chance to play it yet since I have to like work or something during the day, but the brief breaks I took I've had a lot of fun with it so far. Stylistically it kinda reminds me of a mix of a rogue-like and ARPGs like Gauntlet and Diablo with a dash of the aesthetic from Far Cry: Blood Dragon thrown it. it absolutely oozes 80s arcade/movie/tv feel for visuals and sound. I'm not sure if I won't get sick of it later, but when you pause, one of the narrator voices says 'PAUSE'; when you go to the options menu it says 'OPTIONS MENU', notebook is 'NOTEBOOK', and so on. The story narration is pretty good and unobtrusive. One thing I have found so far is that the game can be a little tough while you're getting used to the mechanics- though the play controls initially are super simple. One button for jump, one button for attack, one button to roll/evade. The whole gimmick of the game are the 'mutations'- i've only seen a few (again, not spent much time on it) but that part of it seems pretty cool too.
