I would gladly pay $75, but the seller asking $3000 on eBay can keep dreaming.  They just sent me an offer for $2600, but that is still asking too much when I am riding around in triple digit temperatures in a vehicle without air conditioning.   I would rather get my A/C fixed.  ? I love Andrew and Thomas's work, and wish I would have been following the scene when it was released.  I was not paying attention at the time.  You snooze, you loose, I guess.

We're working on re-releasing the game with completely new artwork by William Thorup (who has created the covert art and packaging for several Jaguar games for us, most recently Gravitic Mines).  We will be able to reveal the packaging soon.  :)

Yes.  Thanks Al.  I will keep my eyes peeled this time around.

The plan is to make this version available indefinitely.  That is, it won't be a limited release as was the case with the original run years ago.  Anyone who wants a copy will be able to purchase one at a reasonable price.

This, IIRC, is more than I made from writing the thing. Over nearly 10 years. It's a good argument for releasing as a NFT with inbuilt on-sale royalties going to the creator. That is, say 10% of any future sale of the object being sent to the original author. I hate being the lowest link in a financial chain where others profit from my work, and not I.

Nobody made a lot of money on the original run of Boulder Dash.  I made the least of the four parties involved (you, Thomas Jentzsch, First Star Software, and me).  Also, I'll eat my hat if someone buys that Boulder Dash auction for $3,000.

If someone does buy that for $3,000, I'm going to put another copy up (ignore what I said earlier!)

With $3K, you could have bought 40 copies (at $75/ea) when it was originally released!

Amazing that it took a whole year to sell the original run.

Makes me wish I held on to the one I purchased from you. It always interests me to see what some people are willing to pay for something. I look forward to the upcoming release! Now I just need a cartridge adapter for my mister.

That's assuming it'll be compatible with it.

There's two interesting recent threads discussing cart compatibility with fpga devices

The gist of it is I've not seen any accurate FPGA 2600 implementations w/cartridge slots to date. The two main problems appear to be:

1- they are cartridge loaders, and those simply won't work with a Harmony which actively controls signals (via 70MHz) CPU.

2- the voltage/impedance of FPGA I/O pins doesn't seem to be directly compatible with old-school technology. And Harmony is "old school" in that it communicates directly with even older-school 2600 circuitry.

..and so we wait!
