All new arcade-quality sounds, courtesy of Bob DeCrescenzo (aka @PacManPlus). Additional speech phrases (over 35 now), also courtesy of Nathan. Mission Select screen to choose the starting rank and battle. Numerous game play tweaks, difficulty ramping, etc. All-new Challenge mode with new gameplay features, including: Additional invaders in ASTRO BATTLES (up to 48!) Additional laser gunners and formations in LASER ATTACK, plus the bombers now, well, drop bombs. ? Full Galaxian arcade formation in Galaxians (max 48 enemies) plus the enemies can fire in formation now. Your ship gets pulled to the center of the worm hole in SPACE WARP, plus missed enemies will reappear in the center. The FLAGSHIP battle now features bombers in addition to the Gorf escort ships, plus a regenerating shield if you don't destroy the Flagship fast enough. Great fun to play... it's difficult but it's great fun ? Congratulations on another release!

It's already been approved by the programmer, and I'm quite happy with it as-is. There won't be a label contest for Gorf Arcade, and there wasn't one for Galagon either. Champ Games hasn't done any label contests yet. * but not really - always happy to disappoint

Galagon was a pretty special release, in that Dave Dries came up with two amazing label designs that John liked so much, he decided to make the second one available as an option (it only applies to the cart though - not the box or manual). Variations like that add to the cost of the game though, since Albert effectively has to have double the number of labels printed, since the printed materials have to be ready when orders come in and he can't predict which one people will choose. Gorf will have variations though, in that the box, manual and label will all show different stages from the game. But they'll all be in the same style, so if you're not a fan of that particular style... well... 2
Synthpopalooza
I just want to say ... One of the great things about playing Gorf and Berzerk in the arcades, was the synthesized voices in those games that trash talked the player. It is awesome that you've included this in this port. Well done ...

Synthpopalooza
Or when you walk by a Berzerk game. "COIN DETECTED IN POCKET!" Did you know they translated the voices into other languages? In Italy the game says "Gallina! Pelea como un robot!"
anoon
Looks amazing! I just tried to run it on a RetroPi, but it just came up black. Is it expected that it won't run on this device? Any tips? Thanks in advance.

As for running the game on a RetroPi, Gorf Arcade requires Stella 6.7 to run so as long as your 2600 emulator is compatible it should run. Since 6.7 is fairly new, my guess is that the emulator you're using hasn't been updated to include the new features in 6.7. Hope that helps! I checked the official Stella 6.7 download page and it has two Raspberry Pi builds (32 and 64 bit) but I'm not exactly sure if those are used by RetroPi. 😕

Oh, this implies that you are using the standalone version of Stella. If you are using the default lr-stella, then that is quite old and I don't recall what version that is using. And there is no upgrade path available for lr-stella. I don't use lr-stella. It'd be best to ask at the RetroPie Forums

+MrBlackCat
I can't go to the show, but I will be buying this one. I have really enjoyed Galagon on the 2600 both nostalgically and technologically. Seeing the adaptation to the 2600s limitations is fascinating. When we got our Vic-20 Christmas 1982, Gorf was one of two games we got with it for Christmas, so Gorf and I go way back. Can't wait... +sramirez2008
@Prizrak It’s a 9 pin male/female connector. Allows me to swap out the AtariVox and controllers without adding additional wear/tear on the controller port. Here’s a better picture.
