Nope, it's not the key mapping.  In CoolCV the game accepts my asterisk press, using the mapped key, and does move the game from the menu screen to the actual game play screen.  It's at this point where the game appears to lock up and white (engine) noise appears.  No joystick fire button or keypad press has any effect at this point.

CoolCV, ColEm and blueMSX all have the same issue.

Can you move the CAT around? I just played a couple quick games and didn’t see the need for button presses after reaching the game screen. I’ll check the instructions tonight. Can you see if keyboard only works with CoolCV?

Nope - can't move the CAT around - the game is totally frozen (screenshot attached).  I get exactly the same with ColEm and blueMSX.  No need to check the instructions, I can play the game fine on a real CV and on the Phoenix.  It's just bizarre the way so far all emulators can't play the game (at least for me anyway).  I've even dumped the cart to verify the ROM and it's good - can play using an AtariMax and Phoenix via SD with the ROM and it works perfectly.

I'd like to add that vdmgr64 also has the same issue.

I think I've found your problem. It works fine in CoolCV 6.2 and CoolCV 6.5 (didn't check in between), but not in CoolCV 6.6. Must be a bug in latest CoolCV version or something. I wonder if it affects other games. I was originally using 6.2 and it worked fine, but then updated to 6.6 and it was like you said.

Very interesting - thanks for narrowing this down.  I'll contact nanochess to ask if he has an idea of what the problem is.

The pb is the way the memory is init. I got same problem with EMulTwo. If you init all the Coleco memory with 0, it can't run, but if it is another value (0xFF is fine), it works (for memory between 0 and 0x8000).

Perhaps Oscar changed the way he initializes memory in last version.

Thank you for identifying the problem.  Oscar did say that he changed the pattern of memory initialisation in the last version of CoolCV so that is likely the culprit there.  He's looking into it so I'm hoping he'll have time to release an updated version of CoolCV that fixes this.

Weren't we supposed to receive a ROM of the 2019 secret game?

Is this true? Unless I missed it, this question didn’t get answered. ?

Yes, the 2019 rom file should have been sent by now
I would need to confirm with Toby

Thanks. Will it come to each of the 2020 members individually or be made available on-site?

I would say, individually

...and if the 2019 members wish to share it they can?

If so, I would be grateful if someone would share it with me :).

Yes, members are free to share the rom file
All we ask is to keep it ''low profile''

So what's the status of this year's packages going out

We need to get the overlays printed
Having the PCBs manufactured (some delay due to the coronavirus)

Yes, definitely!
You won't have to wait till the end of the year to get the rom file
