Anyone seen one of these before?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

My neighbor recently started packing up to move across the country and they found this Atari 2600a but it came with some interesting pieces. I asked my friend that makes his living buying and selling games and hes never seen anything like it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Well, looks like a standard socket for an EPROM programmer that's been repurposed by hacking an existing cart, turning it into a simple socketed game cartridge for pirate ROMS. Basically you just insert one of the chips and plug in the cart and you're good to go with that game. Definitely a homebrew effort IMHO and interesting but not exactly valuable.

Thank you for the reply!

It was an interesting find, especially in the original box in decent condition, I just had no idea people did this back in the day. It's pretty cool that it has a toggle switch as well, I assume to play the game on the cartridge as well as the chips that were included.

No, it's to switch between 2k and 4k games. It's worth about $10 to someone who actually wants it.
