How many ways can I say stupid, not to you leech, but to anyone fool enough to pay $2,500 for that cart. There's no way that it's worth anywhere near that, even from a collectors point of view.

Would you be able to check whether the two cartridges below work with your system? They crash on a standard computer.

Why don't you add 1 wire on GTIA chip like another quote say, pin 3 and 10. Viola ! Bingo ! It might be work at this time !

But that auction comes with free First Class shipping.  That's always the best way to send overpriced cartridges to another person, amirite?

Or try it on an 800 (or 400 upgraded to 48K), booting while pressing FIRE on a joystick plugged into port 3.

Works like a breeze on atari800 with this patch hack.

Edit: when a test runs, you can press the following keys:

OPTION - sometimes displays four graphics 0 lines at the bottom with extra information

SELECT - stop test

S - swap colors of object 1 and 2 (red and green)

T - toggle visibility of object 1

B - toggle visibility of object 2

  • 2 years later...

I just bought one of these (waiting now) and the label says made in Hong Kong. Not sure if there’s any significance to it but unlike all of the other labels I’ve seen that have a number stamped after the A1 but before the rest of the serial number, this one is blank.

Took me off guard at first since it was listed as a 65xe and it’s laid out with expansion like a 130xe in the back so of course I did a double take and snagged it regardless.

So I got it a couple of weeks ago but never followed up. Cool curiosity but that's where it ends with me. Unit works great but realize that I'd rather rip the label off and just have a stock 65XE unit as I'm not partial to the label variety or the fact that it has an ECI? slot (I have a 130 already and I was going to possibly use this board in that to upgrade it since it has a bad GTIA but I've already got another replacement board coming) so I'm currently holding off and deciding against that route.

I'm not a collector but out of respect to those who are and for someone who may be interested before I go ripping labels off etc., I would be willing to trade it for a normal 65XE as long as it's NTSC just as this one is and in good cosmetically, working condition. I'm in the U.S., feel free to PM me.

sadly the cartridge port tabs are broken off and this doesn't exactly match other computer orthoptics machines. irregular for certain.

this is not made in Hong Kong, it was made in China, and the printed labels were from Hong Kong. Although Hong Kong is part of China again today, it wasn't then.

Fair assessment, although outside of the cart port tabs being broken off, without running the program to know, it may also have the same modification internally. First time I’ve seen a 65XE myself in the U.S. to have both back ports like the 130. So it does match the other machines in that regard as well as the label.

What else doesn’t match compared to the other orthoptic machines? Either way, may be of interest to someone. I’ll load the program when I get a chance to test it. I don’t want to open the unit since it still has the seal intact.
