PacManPlus
Hi everyone: Does anyone have any 'tricks' to get more colors out of 320B mode? I'm already using the 6 colors allotted with one palette fixed and the other changing every board. I don't have enough space to do 'dithering', so I was wondering if there was anything that can be done... Thanks guys, Bob
RevEng
I have nothing magical, just the usual tricks. You mentioned dithering. There's also 2600 style banding (2 different colors on alternating lines), 30Hz flicker between two palettes (or graphics data), and color artifacting. For static stuff or stuff in limited to horizontal sections of the screen, palette value change via interrupt. But I doubt any of that is news to you. Synthpopalooza
I do. Two character sets flipped every cycle gets you 9 colors per character plus bg, and an additional 9 colors for the 2nd palette. You have to turn on kangaroo mode. Find my sky scraper thread to see it in action.
Synthpopalooza
There is also the experimental 320D trick, but that only serves to get 320B color resolution at 320A DMA. Still haven't been able to sort the flicker issues.
PacManPlus
Thanks guys - I have a few ideas... Although I don't think the color flipping will work for me; I need Kangaroo mode off (need the transparency more than anything else).
