Are Team Player (MK-1647) / Multi-Taps region free peripherals?

Hey guys, can anyone help me understand whether Team Player (MK-1647) work on any region Sega Genesis / Megadrives? I live in the UK and there are very few for sale on eBay here (MK-1647) at a reasonable price. So am considering importing from the US.

 

But looking at a PDF of the MK-1647 manual, right at the very bottom, that this device: "Operates only with NTSC televisions, Genesis and Sega CD systems purchased in North and South America. Will not operate with any other televisions, Genesis or Sega CD system."

Mine works fine on a JP Mega Drive, I don't see why it wouldn't on a PAL system either.

Thanks for your post. I just did an Ebay search and bought 2 NIB units. Might never use them but boxed hardware is fun to have.
