Use real 5200 systems and Atari Mfg controls. -1 hsc pt penalty for use of period analog sticks, such as the Wico. Only modern exceptions allowed are flashcarts/SD loaders running original Roms. Pics preferred, but not required, except for HSC wins and records. Game ends when month does. Current HSC record- Bust it for a bonus point! The Dreadnaught Factor - (Game 5) rubeon 31,864 BUSTED! Completing the game takes about 20-25 minutes with 10 Dreadnaughts. I've never put together a strategy guide or anything, but my main habits are: 1. Destroy the engines before doing anything else! You can ad lib a bit with early ships and blow stuff up as you go, but after the first 2 or 3 ships you got to get those engines! The further out you destroy the Dreadnaught, the more points you get, and the more bombing runs you can make before it reaches your Stargate. 2. Make sure you take out the bridges as well. This takes some memorisation to know where they are, but once the bridges are down the guns fire less, and I believe things like the launchers regenerate more slowly 3. Minimise the dying. You get 5 free ships with every Dreddie you destroy, and each ship counts for bonus at the end of the game. Those bonus points really add up after you've mashed 10 of them. You get about 1500-2000 points per dreadnaught, depending on how much stuff you blow up and how far out it is. About half of my score up there was from the remaining-ship bonus. I can't see anything about it in the manual. My 1st run through had the game crash on me, so might be just a glitch. Update- this one came up at beginning of 2nd ship. I'd made it through the first one without dying and not missing any targets.
