mikesk8
Hi All:-) I have recently seen two UK Atari 800 computers without “Atari 800 U” on the serial label on the back. I thought all UK PAL versions were labeled as 800 U?
_The Doctor__
Not sure it was done or if someone converted NTSC units to PAL units...
mikesk8
Interesting as it had UK modulator on the power supply motherboard and UK sticker on the cartridge slot maybe other forum members have seen it.
_The Doctor__
sorry thought you said there where no UK marks, the power supply would have to be a UK supply, US supply is half that of UK and wouldn't plug up... if you managed to get it to plug up using simple prong adapter all the smoke would escape and nothing would work... Inside it looks UK but outside on the label there is no 800U just 800. That’s why I was wondering why?

Perhaps when Atari first started building the UK PAL 800 they didn't have the updated serial number labels, so shipped the early ones with the NTSC label. Do you know the serial numbers of these units(I have noticed that the UK PAL 800 serial numbers usually start with BK, while the P(non-UK PAL) version started with 052)? mikesk8
There were no letters; just serial number around 450000 and date 1983 week 10 or close. Don’t recall the exact numbers. It seems rather late 800.
mikesk8
Maybe just the bottom was cracked and got replaced
mikesk8
To close this case is there any way of identifying the serial from inside? ?
