#FujiNet Testing and Bug Reporting Thread

Recommended Posts

Hello all. I hope, this is the right place to ask about the problem I have.

I'm in a process of flashing ESP32 for my FujiNet. I'm using Linux, so I downloaded the FujiNet-Flasher and I'm trying to use it. Unfortunatelly, it fails with the following log:

Using '/dev/ttyUSB0' as serial port.

 - Has Factory-Calibrated ADC: YES

 - Flash Size: 4MB

 - Flash Mode: dio
 - Flash Frequency: 40MHz
Erasing flash (this may take a while)...
Chip erase completed successfully in 9.9s
Unexpected error: '_io.BytesIO' object has no attribute 'name'

Why does it fail? I have Python-3.8 installed.

I tried the Windows version on my wife's computer but it ended up with exactly the same mistake (I installed all the necessary drivers, otherwise I would not be able to see the ESP32 module).

Any hints?

That's the problem. Official FujiNet has 16MB of flash. I'm guessing you have a custom built FujiNet. You'll need to compile the firmware for your board and flash it with PlatformIO.

Fun fact: There are more years between now and the introduction of Windows XP than there were years between the introduction of the Atari 600XL/800XL and the debut of Windows XP.

Scary fact - time keeps moving (seemingly) faster the older I get.  I assume this will continue.

FujiNet Firmware Flasher.

See "Build it yourself" at https://github.com/FujiNetWIFI/fujinet-flasher

it's written in python, and none of the runtimes support XP any longer.

Python 3.4 is the last version to support XP and the flash program claims to support 3.x so it might work.

This is as far as I go with this XP nonsense. @Kyle22 if you build it and want to share I will put it up for download.

I looked at it and never did it. I realised that it would be pretty involved given where the diode would have to go and wouldn't be reversible if it didn't work. I'd have to cut the blue trace and solder in the yellow diode just to test this.

I still can't get my head around the idea that this is an XEL problem when everything works fine with the XEL except the Fujinet. Why does a 1050 or a SDrive-MAX boot fine when plugged into the XEL with the SIO2PC disconnected but the Fujinet doesn't? It has to be a Fujinet problem.

Is there some place on the Fujinet I should be adding a missing diode? This is sounding like the issue the SDrive-MAX had that ended up needing a diode (that still didn't work right) or the addon board that @BigBen designed to make it work right.

It looks to me that the blue trace is on the other side of the PCB where it is broken between vias at he bottom of the image, breaking that hidden portion of the trace should allow installing the diode between these vias. Also easily reversible with a short jumper between these vias.

Not sure if this is the correct thread to ask this question or not?

Using the Epson 80 printer output function. Is it possible for the user to change the font used by Epson 80 printer emulator?

I used one the printshop graphic print utilities, the names are supposed to print under the associated graphic but the spacing or font size must be different since the row of text is wider than it is supposed to be.

Thank you.

I think @jeffpiep is still implementing all the fonts for the FX-80 emulation...

Saw this error in the Hardware thread but did not see a complete resolution. I have The Brewing Academy Fujinet and attempted to flash latest firmware but am getting the following errors. Any assistance would be appreciated:

Using Windows 10 with FujiNet-Flasher.exe

Leaving...
Hard Resetting...
Done! Flashing is complete!

Believe it or not, that's not a error.

That's the debugging code in our firmware trying to run before things are fully initialized.

If you press the monitor button, you'll see the messages coming from the FujiNet.

Next question: Should my Wi-Fi LED (white) be on when connected to Wi-Fi? Everything is working and I am able to connect to my network as well as connect to several TNFS hosts, but the LED light never comes on at any point.

When I initially boot the computer, the Bluetooth (blue) and SIO (orange) both light up for a few seconds. Nothing with the Wi-Fi light.

The WiFi light should light up once it connects to your access point and gives an address. Are you able to go to http://fujinet/ ?

fujinet.online ? Yes. I'm able to go thru folders and load from them.
