+Living Room Arcade
If anyone finds this helpful, you can play this game on a PC running Stella and using a one-button Atari 2600 joystick and the Joy2Key helper app. Map the fire button on your Atari 2600 joystick to both buttons on the Atari 7800 controller. When you press fire, your ship will both shoot straight ahead and drop a bomb. Questions Does anyone know a better way to play this game using a one button Atari 2600 joystick? Does anyone here know if its possible using Joy2Key to configure it so pressing the button will fire and to drop a bomb, press the button while pulling back on the joystick? Thank you. +SpiceWare
You're probably seeing 2 button on the menu screen: That's because by default Stella thinks a Genesis controller is plugged in: Change that to Joystick: Click OK out of the menus, then reload the game and it should now show 1 button.
+Living Room Arcade
@SpiceWare Yes, you're right. I was seeing '2 button' on the menu screen. That fixed it. Thanks, Mr. Spice! Man, this game has some serious arcade feels to it, doesn't it? What a great port!

The dedication and care which went into it is phenomenal. But I also agree with the earlier comment in the thread about graphic and name changes... and colors, sound effects, and music... Perhaps it's because I grew up with the Odyssey 2 with its whack variations on arcade games (which sometimes worked, sometimes didn't), and the Apple II with its hundreds of unlicensed clones and variations on well known games. If I saw fun variations on the enemies and terrain here, that'd make me smile, and wonder what was coming next, what else was different. If I want to play the original, I still can. And if a company claimed an IP violation with an inspired but changed up 2600 game, they'd have a more difficult legal claim, and their decision to pursue it would look worse. I don't know... Maybe if I was more of an arcade goer as a kid, or if I had a 2600 where arcade ports were such a big deal, or even a Colecovision or NES where a high quality arcade port was the selling point, my attitude would be different. But for me, as fantastic as Zevious is, if there's a physical release, I would actually prefer a few more deviations from the original, just for that element of surprise and the novelty... I don't remember much about this topic. Was probably being grumpy about unlicensed ports because we live in a sue first society. So, you put a lot of love into an unlicensed port and then companies "must" defend their rights or they get diluted or something. But, in general.. yeah. I don't feel the need for the exact same experience. I'd rather have a lawsuit free developer successfully publish new games.
Bomberman94
Just played it again today and it is absolutely great! I only wonder what these by-ships are that sometimes join my ship - they spin around and at one point shoot/fly straight away. I would like to pay for it only to get a PAL(60) version (i must play in false colors ar the moment). Well, you never know until the game is finished...
