Season 18 Round 3 of 15 - Contra

Up next is one of my personal NES favorites.  This round has both a high score and a low score competition.  Each will be awarded separate season points according to the standard scoring chart below.  Normal rules apply for the HSC.  Just play until you run out of lives.  For the LSC play through just the first level and note your score between levels 1 and 2.  Please indicate if you're posting an HSC or LSC score.  Finally, I'm going to automatically take last place in the HSC with regard to season points.  This is one that I've played a ton so I don't feel right choosing it without some sort of handicap.  I hope you all enjoy.

General HSC Season Rules:

• To participate, just post a score to the thread. Anyone can join in at any time.
• A picture or screenshot is encouraged when posting a score but not required.
• The season is 15 rounds long.
• Games will be posted on Sundays and run two weeks through Sunday at 11:59 PM CST.
• Do not exploit game glitches, take advantage of 1-up loops or intentionally die in order to replay a level.
• If "point pressing" is not specified in the game rules you should be moving forward in an attempt to complete/loop the game and not "camping" for points.
• No emulator save states, slow-mo, rewind, etc.
• No cheats, e.g. Konami code, Game Genie, etc.
• Turbo controllers are allowed.

You can do it! It's not so tough. Although the difficulty does increase on subsequent loops.

I finally got knocked out on stage 3 of loop 4. The number of enemies starts to get ridiculous. You can barely do anything because there's always someone shooting at you.

Congrats. I'd like to max out the score someday. But even a few loops in there are already so many enemies that I start bleeding lives.

Yeah it's one of those big video game accomplishments I've wanted to do.

 

Another one was get over a million points in Kung Fu to roll the score, which I actually did do for the first time recently.

I lost count at some point.  At the pace I was going, I'd guess that it took me around nine or ten loops.

Thanks.  This was my first attempt at maxing out the score.

Whew.  That's a lot of Contra.  I'm guessing that took about 2.5 to 3 hours.  You earned that one.  I'll be happy if I can complete the fourth loop.

Low Score - 10k - No deaths!

For low score I didn't kill anything except for the boss. 10k is the lowest possible score. It took some tries to figure out how to do it deathless and without playing safe by killing some other stuff at the boss.
