Run, yes ...but maybe not so well.

I didn't realize you can use the number keys...

I was using the directional keys, but I didn't have the joystick feature enabled.

So, it seems that pressing the wrong keys can crash the program, or cause an error, such as "you touched the fence!".

Easy to press T or W while using the number keys.

Also, maybe I don't understand the rules/luck here...

Here I pressed 6...

Here I pressed 3...

Here I pressed 8...

all with the same result...

But, this seems inconsistent.

ok, I'll check. I was using the joystick since it's easy to play, so not tested the crash for wrong key. ;-)  For inconsistencies, yes, I've notices a couple, but this is in the original game. Not sure if it's coming from any magazine to double check the original listing. If someone has infos...

ok, so, I've patched the crash if an incorrect key is pressed (it crashes also in BASIC). I've added the support for keys SDEX, WRZC and Q. Q is the equivalent for 0, so no move. I've not realized that you can decide to not move and wait for robots moves, so now it's added also in joystick (press fire to not move). Of course the original 1,2,3... keys are still supported.

Some time it seems that there are some inconsistencies when you are killed by robots, but this is also in the original game. It is not drawing the killing robot moving over the hero, so this is surely a little confusing. If someone wants to check and improve the original code I'll then compile the new updated version. ?

Robot War V 1.1 in attachment.
