Irgendwer
Like promised here the sample player source code I've created with a demo program. The player is optimized self modifying code, so not suitable for ROM. I will initiate a cc65 merge request in the nearer future - after creating some documentation and having a function to re-enable the keyboard after playing. Build the code: cl65 -Cl -r -Os -t atari SamplePlayerDemo.c SamplePlayer.s -o SamplePlayerDemo.xex Sample source data is 4kHz, unsigned 4 bit. Used for the conversion "sox" (to 4kHz, 8 bit), an own 8 to 4 bit conversion tool and xxd to create the include file. Have fun! SamplePlayerDemo.xex SamplePlayer.zip 2

darwinmac
@Irgendwer - I just wanted to let you know that you have created a very addictive game in our house. The “Game Over, Man, Game Over” also never fails to get a laugh. You have created a game that makes the vintage Atari enjoyable to even a 20 year old. You should be proud. I will be setting up Altirra on a PC just so the 20 year old can play Disc O Pop. Bob C 6

Wow! I was fairly happy with 16 but if you look at the screenshot, you can see there were a lot of bubbles remaining that I could’ve popped had I not made a stupid mistake that ended the game. manterola
Yeah, It is always like that, everything goes by the plan, until I get greedy, or too ambitious or make a stupid mistake. Aarrrgh
Preppie
This game is driving me insane lol I'd like to see a version with a different scoring system. Everytime you shoot a ball u get 1pt for first crack, then 2pts for second crack, 3 for 3rd etc. and when u pop a ball u get 5pt * current multiplier. You could use the P/Ms to flash scores up as you create cracks to add some color to the game.

Preppie
left to right: pop 1 ball in a game. pop 10 balls in a game Land a ball exactly on top line Land a ball exactly on bottom line pop 2 balls with 1 shot pop 3 balls with 1 shot pop 20 balls in game (or in a session, can't remember that one) No extra points or anything, just achievement medals. You can get this medal without popping anything. You "just" have to place 20 discs on the play field. And of course there is the mysterious 8th medal, nobody has achieved yet... ?
+Stephen
There needs to be a "special" medal for players like me. The "loser cannot get > 3 points medal

manterola
I just discovered the source of the "game over, man, game over" sample. Right now rewatching Aliens and heard it in minute 73. I don't know what else can make this game cooler... 1

I think that they retrofitted it back into the old film because a really good Atari game would make the film way cooler.
