ZeroPage Homebrew FAQ & Links

Last Updated: Feb 23, 2023

This FAQ is a partly a convenient list of resources for myself and also somewhere to point people to when they ask questions about the ZeroPage Homebrew Twitch Stream. I add/update this listing as I run across or think of them.

ZeroPage Homebrew FAQ:

Q: What are your qualifications to do all of this?

A: I've been live streaming on the Internet since 1999, video live streaming since 2003, I'm a professional filmmaker and I love playing homebrew!

Q: Why do you broadcast at 60fps? (AKA I'm watching at 30fps and half of the game is missing!)

A: The Atari 2600 and other classic consoles output video at 60fps (approximately). If you capture or watch at 30fps you will literally be missing half the frames of the game. This is especially noticeable with games that use flicker to create more player characters on the screen.

Q: Why doesn't Twitch let me select a lower quality stream while watching ZeroPage Homebrew live?

A: Only Twitch Partners have the option of quality selection for their streams and unfortunately ZPH doesn't currently qualify. SOMETIMES Twitch allows that option randomly for non Twitch Partners, but not always.

Q: Games that use a lot of flicker look bad while watching, can you fix this?

A: The quality of your connection and the power of your computer/video card can affect this. Make sure your video card drivers are up to date and you haven't turned off the hardware acceleration on your browser. You may also want to select 720p60 instead of 1080p60 if you're watching the show on YouTube as it may help.
