I've mostly been playing with a Genesis arcade stick via emulators.  For anyone who has played with a Proline, do you feel that the buttons are mapped right (I'm not sure whether fire or select is left/right)?  I can't make it configurable.  I wonder if, for example, fire is on the right button, would it be more comfortable with fire on the left?  Or vice versa?

Hmm... I no longer use Proline controllers with my 7800. I either use one of several NES style controllers or my arcade sticks like the one I got a few months back from Bratwurst. I believe the left button which would be mapped to the left button on a proline, is the fire button.

I haven't made any changes to the game in the last couple of weeks, though I have made good progress on a final, official manual.  I'll probably take one or two more looks at the game with fresh eyes to see if there's anything else I want to tweak, otherwise I'd consider the June 29 binary "release candidate 1."

I figured I should share the source in case it can be helpful for anyone else.

I want to give an update since it's been so long

  1. I have not made any changes since the last ROM.  I tested a couple of weeks ago and thought I had a problem where it wouldn't let me start a new game after continuing, but I haven't been able to reproduce it.  Probably not a deal-breaker, but if anyone has seen something like that I suspect there is a valid bug intersecting starting on level > 1, reaching a new level, continuing.
  2. I'm working with Al on an official manual, I've done some drafts and I've provided the text and artwork.  I think it's going to be cool!

A few minor data changes, no code.  I expect this to be the final rom.

- Changed grey bat's palette to red so it pops more. Too much grey on the castle level...

- Mummies move faster when chasing.

- Gem, Chalice and Necklace are worth more points.

Also, I did a full play through last week (before making those data changes above). I finally got a perfect game (all 256 rooms) - so it is possible if you've got about an hour and 15 minutes to kill!

I've been playing through this on my Dragonfly.

First of all this game is great. I've waited a long time for a game like this to be on the 7800.

I did notice one bug : Some times when I enter a gate room and the gates open. All of the gates dissapear except for one piece.

Its a bug that doesn't seem to affect game play.

Thanks for making a great game.

Glad you're enjoying it, thanks!  I have seen that bug, too, but haven't figured out the root cause. Seems intermittent - sometimes it happens sometimes it doesn't.  My timing math is probably off by one in some situations.

Thanks for all your hard work and coordinating getting this out!  The manual turned out great, imho, in no small part to Albert's editor's eye.

I've started a thread to keep everyone updated on the production of all the new pre-order games, including Wizard's Dungeon.  I'm also posting photos as items arrive, such as the boxes, manuals, labels, posters, and other items once I've received them!

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Thank you so much, it was pretty smooth sailing until level 4 when it all started getting tough!

Such a fun game, thank you again for making it!
