Mockduck
It seemed valuable to have a full list of the games that could be updated fairly quickly over time. I've also tried to include a link to the developer to learn about the game if possible, or a similar link if not. Just throwing it out there, and defer to you, but maybe there's an icon (like an asterisk or plus or something) we can use to denote titles that are exclusive to the VCS? I'm all for consolidating threads to relieve forum space. Edited January 7, 2021 by Atarick
Mockduck
I have been thinking about exclusives. There really aren't many, and those that are probably will not remain exclusive for long. That's probably how it should be. We aren't talking Sony funding Naughty Dog for their next game, we're talking a couple of people making a thing, and anyone who thinks exclusive is good for that is just wrong. These devs should absolutely also be releasing their games to other platforms, and there is nothing at all wrong with that. So, I kinda hate the whole "exclusive" debate as it is more about winning fantasy forum arguments than anything of actual value. BUT, sure, I will add an asterisk which will officially mean: * This game was exclusive to the new Atari VCS at the time of its debut in the VCS Store. Trying to keep track of when things are no longer exclusive and what counts as exclusive other than the above statement is something I have no interest in doing work related to. If someone wants to maintain that for accuracy, be my guest and I'll just copy your work into the document.

I mean what kind of exclusive can Atari realistically get that is going make fence-sitters decide pull the trigger and spend a few hundred on it? It's not the number of exclusives that counts, it's having some big-name, must play game(s). The people who are buying VCS's are doing it for other reasons.

It's why the VCS and the Amico could use more IMO. Most of the Amico's true exclusives are remakes, but at least that's something IMO. Nothing wrong with the opinion. I'd point out that we're only in March and after three months version control has already completely destroyed my ability to keep track of which games were exclusive and when, so I stand by my main point that trying to maintain an evergreen list with a bunch of ever-changing exclusivity marks sounds like a bad idea.

Mockduck
6/11/21: Pixel Cup Soccer by Batovi Games. Nice pixel graphics with some modern shading and such that has been kicking around since around 2016 with a couple of different releases. A mere ten bucks. Looks like couch co-op and AI-assisted. +SabertoothRetro
I think that from a backer/early adopter perspective, the gap between titles can be frustrating. But if you just picked this up at launch, you have a reasonable launch library of 20+ games to peruse. Hoping to see a few new titles soon. I’m thinking that after their last “course correction” update, where they talked about entering the AAA game space and didn’t really mention the VCS, that what you have is all you’re gonna get. It’s almost like they weren’t really honest about their intentions long term… but that’d be crazy.
Mockduck
I know of at least three games that intend to publish to the VCS Store, but yeah, things have gotten real slow in recent months. At the least we'll get Spirit of the Samurai, but that doesn't seem ready to release at all yet.
