Classic Controller supported. Ordered! (No. 16829). Played through a couple of the Challenges and Classic games. Really like that they added "Classic" play to this one and hope the update to Asteroids comes out soon. I would like to play asteroids with at least three lives. +SabertoothRetro
I was checking out the list and it occurs to me that less than 9 months after its official retail launch in June 2021, the new Atari VCS has 53 official releases and one demo in the AtariOS store. This includes the 18 Flashback Friday games and 2 Atari VCS Vault volumes. By comparison, the Atari Jaguar had 50 official carts released during its entire retail run. That includes the Telegames published carts. XEGS had 32 XE branded games (although you can play the A8 library). The modern VCS is poised to have more officially released games than the Jag/CD combined, 7800 and 5200 by the end of 2022. It will likely also surpass the Lynx at some point. When that happens, only the 2600 will have seen more official releases on an Atari branded console. Kinda strange to think about.

Well you can play the entire A8 library on VCS as well :)
Mockduck
Sorry was busy so late on this one, but: Friday, March 18th, 2022 releases: Breakout (Atari 2600 ROM) Gravitar (Atari 2600 ROM) Both 99-cents. This is the debut of the Atari 2600 Stella emulator integration into AtariOS. NOTE: ALL VCS OWNERS ALREADY OWN THESE GAMES. They are in the Atari Vault. If you are paying the dollar it is presumably because that is a low enough cost to save a button click and vault loading, or because you are using the VCS in AtariOS as a front end for something. 1
Mockduck
Released 3/22/22: Tempest 4000 $19.99 Tempest 4000 hits the VCS after being initially featured in pre-launch advertising and apparent subsequent corporate drama? Either way, this game hit the other major consoles and PCs a few years ago. VERY similar to TxK on the Playstation Vita (for anyone who played that), this is a half update of that awesome portable version of Jeff Minter's latest evolution of the "tube shooter". Of course the Vita didn't have 4k like this supports, and this does support the Classic Controller.
Mockduck
Released 3/25/22: Adventure (Atari 2600) .99 This is week 2 of Atari releasing Atari 2600 ROMS for their Flashback Fridays. This is the 2600 version of Adventure. NOTE: EVERY VCS OWNER already owns this game as part of the Atari Vault, so whether it is worth a separate purchase probably depends on whether a buck is a convenience fee to do whatever you are doing with your VCS as a setup. This was done as an afterthought, imho since Unity can build a VCS version. Kudos for Atari for keeping Flashback Friday alive kind of.

Ice Cream Jonsey
On 10/29/2021 at 5:25 PM, Mockduck said: 10/29/21: Dark Chambers (Atari 7800) $2.99 This week there's only one instead of the two games released for Flashback Fridays from the first two weeks. Dark Chambers is a classic console game from 1989 inspired by the 1983 game Dandy. Released for multiple consoles, it's a dungeon crawler maze game. Never saw Dark Chambers back in the day, this game is a GEM. Having a ton of fun with it.
Mockduck
Released 8/5/22: Meganoid 8.99 Procedurally generated platformer! Originally released in 2017, is a reboot of the original 2011 Meganoid for mobile. From the web site: "Meganoid is a challenging platformer, generating new levels on every play session. Find many items to enhance your character and his abilities while you descend down into the Meganoid space ship. Mockduck
Sorry, life's been busy and I missed getting Apolune 2 up here until now: Released 8/12: Apolune 2 $4.99 Unusual game made in Gamemaker using rudimentary graphics, focusing on resource collection, obstacles to destroy, and upgrades while tethered to your space ship. Released 8/23/22: Yars Recharged $9.99 The latest in the Recharged series and the first to focus on an Atari 2600 title! Mockduck
Neat release yesterday (Friday) that is connected to the simultaneous announcement that the first series in the Atari XP line has started shipping to buyers: Released 8/26/22: Aquaventure Saboteur Yar's Return Each of these games is already available in the Atari Vault Volume 2 collection, which is its own purchase on the VCS. However, these versions of the games are a bit different. These are the "Atari XP" versions of these games, featuring some gameplay and graphical improvements. Everyone who purchased one of the games as a physical Atari XP release received a code to download ALL THREE games as a thank you for the extensive delay in production for free. These games/roms however are available for $2.99 if you didn't get the Atari XP cart. Edited August 27, 2022 by Mockduck
