REMOVED 11/2/23:

Alien Abduction

NOTE: Yesterday, someone noticed that the title Alien Abduction, the 2600 game developed by H.E.R.O. creator Jon Van Ryzin, was removed from the VCS Store. Atari has not said anything about why it was removed. There was casual comments made in Discord at some point that the game was a "VCS digital exclusive" on launch, so maybe it has been pulled ahead of a wider digital or digital and physical release. Hard to say. Bummer!

@Davpa explained it here.   It was removed per developer request.

Added 11/9/23:

Berzerk: Recharged       $9.99

The latest in the Recharged series brings you a reimagining of Berzerk! Plays a bit more like a twin stick arcade game with independent shot direction.

ALSO:

Alien Abduction has returned to the VCS Store in the past day or so. Looks like it was just a temporary de-listing.

Released 12/1/23:

Battle Rockets    $9.99

Indie developed mix of a head to head fighting game and a shoot-em-up SHMUP. First game from the folks who released Ultra Mission on the VCS.

Circus Atari    FREE

A free 2600 game for the VCS! Circus Atari: 2600 is the classic 2600 game with Classic functionality supported.

NOTE: I am not seeing this game listed under Games in the VCS Store, but if you search for it you'll find it. Listed as 12/1/23 release date in Details.

Milli & Greg    $4.99

Platformer from 2nd Boss, the folks who released Savage Halloween and Biolab Wars on the VCS.

Released 12/15/23:

Food Fight: Culinary Combat     $14.99

The "Food Fight Remake" announced in 2022 has been released as a temporary exclusive to the Atari VCS! This is a third-person shooter appropriate for younger ages with a Food Fight sort of theme. Think Splatoon or Fortnight in a grocery store with guns that don't kill. Originally set for a 2022 release, the game went quiet until now. Seems to be that Atari might be testing the waters on this one with its early exclusive VCS release. Interesting that at least as of the time of this writing neither Mega Cat nor Atari have web pages up for the game, Mega Cat has a returned result in Google search but the page 404s.

Madness Beverage     $9.99

The latest VCS release from Blue Sunset Games (Ultimate Ski Jumping, Skinny and Franko). The first First Person Shooter released on the VCS! Originally released in 2021 on most consoles and PC. Think older school style FPS.

Released 2/2/24:

Frenzy: 7800        $8.99

A homebrew turned official publish? Frenzy: 7800 is a homebrew by Bob Decrescenzo (Fail Safe: 7800) that now has an official publish by Atari on the VCS! Includes the 7800 homebrew of Berzerk as well! Frenzy was the sequel to Berzerk.

Interestingly, looks like Crystal Quest: 7800 has been pulled from the VCS Store due to a sound issue that was not able to be quickly resolved. Hard to say whether it will be back, or if it'll join 4th and Inches and Tailgunner in the gone forever pile.

Released 2/20/24:

Qomp2     $19.99

The sequel to Qomp arrives on the VCS! Qomp is an indie PC and Linux game released in 2021 by Graphite Lab using pong-style ball physics as a multi-level obstacle and maze puzzle game. This new sequel expands greatly on the idea. Bounce around the stages trying to get to the end! Timing and dodging are the key challenges. NOTE: Game does NOT support the Classic Joystick.

Released 3/22/24 (see notes below):

Space Duel: 7800      8.99

Crystal Quest: 7800     8.99

Space Duel is an AtariAge 7800 homebrew version of the third in the Asteroids arcade series. Crystal Quest: 7800 is a renamed version for the VCS of the AtariAge 7800 homebrew called Bentley Bear's Crystal Quest, likely renamed due to the developer not having the rights to the Bentley Bear IP from Atari. Classic platformer!

*Crystal Quest was initially briefly released on 2/9/24 before being quickly removed from the VCS Store. The game has now returned to the Store catalog.

Released 3/29/24:

Cash Cow DX       $5.99

The latest arcade game release from the makers of Donut Dodo! Pixel Games SARL-S' Cash Cow DX looks to be a bit like original Genesis Sonic the Hedgehog with a Donut Dodo-familiar art style. Supposed to be super tough!

A few days late on this one as I was out of town:

Released 4/4/24:

Block'em Sock'em: 7800      $8.99

The latest homebrew release on the VCS from publisher and YouTuber John Hancock! This is a homebrew developed by Adam Welch from Second-Dimension, published by John Hancock, that was originally released for the Genesis and then later the Jaguar, then the 7800. This is the 7800 version in the VCS Store.

Released 4/12/24:

Tanks, But No Tanks     7.99

Tile Cross     2.99

Two releases today from Set Sail Games, a small indie studio. Tanks, But No Tanks is an update of the original top-down tank shooting game released by Zimag for the Atari 2600 back in the 80's, and Tile Cross is a small tile puzzle game where you need to cross every tile exactly once.

Released 4/23/24:

Lunar Lander Beyond      $29.99

Released on the VCS along with all other major platforms today! Sort of a re-think of the Lunar Lander arcade game, developed by Dreams Uncorporated, an indie studio that has released a few games prior, published by Atari. When I played it at PAX East it reminded me a bit of an updated Gravitar Recharged with different gameplay. This game's release on the VCS has been in question since the game's announcement, so neat to see it get a release here.

Released 4/26/24:

Asteroids Deluxe: 7800       $5.99

An extensive hack of the Atari 7800 version of Asteroids done around 2008 (?) by Robert DeCrescenzo, available as a physical cartridge on AtariAge here. Neat that this homebrew is being officially published by Atari on the VCS (Atari lists itself as the Publisher in the credits), probably possible thanks to the purchase of AtariAge I'd think.
