+therealbountybob
Time for the 3rd poll of Season 18 If anyone missed round 1 or 2 just post scores and join right in Any questions post or message, we are all friendly here Pole Position Still pondering on playing the Patent V6 version for a change (or the Marius version better PAL timings but still easier). If you only have the original version then we can factor that in the tables. http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-patent-pole-position-version-06_14263.html http://a8.fandal.cz/detail.php?files_id=5161 Aquatron DropZone got the boot (will be back) but we'll see if Aquatron can do any better. Highly underrated scrolling shooter/rescuer. http://a8.fandal.cz/detail.php?files_id=1217 http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-aquatron_300.html Mountain King Fun platformer with some great music. http://a8.fandal.cz/detail.php?files_id=2397 http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-mountain-king_3551.html Qix 5200 ver We played the A8 version last time so it's the equally good 5200 port. http://a8.fandal.cz/detail.php?files_id=2719 http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-qix_4208.html Popeye Original or Arcade verson http://a8.fandal.cz/detail.php?files_id=7218 http://a8.fandal.cz/detail.php?files_id=2652 http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-popeye_6768.html
doctorclu
Popeye is always fun, but I kinda want to change my vote to Aquatron.
Deteacher
I was torn between Popeye and Mountain King, but finally went with Popeye! Mountain King is a lot of fun, but it's a much larger time investment (for me, anyway) and time isn't something I have a lot of, these days.
Atari8guy
Based on how the first two rounds have gone, (me discovering new games - Nibbler, or respecting one I've owned but rarely play - Blue Max) I find myself voting for games I haven't played. Which probably hurts my chances in the scoring... I've played a lot of Qix for example (though not the 5200 version). So my vote is for Mountain King
CapitanClassic
It voted for never played, Aquatron. I think I am an expert at Popeye, and decent at Qix. I have played the 800 version of Mountain King, but prefer the 2600 version. As far as Pole Position goes, I never was a big fan of the home version, when games like Great American Road Race and Pitstop II exist. I do like the Arcade’s, “Prepare To Qualify” speech synthesis. (Don’t remember if the 800 version has that).

carlsson
Ok, so after the A8 version of Qix was played six (?) times in the HSC over the years, it looks like finally the 5200 version may come into play. Perhaps we can rope in @zylon in that case? For a while I was a little intrigued by this MSX and Tomy Tutor game, but after seeing a video it mostly looks like ultra slow, dumbed down Qix. Yeah I was hoping we might play something different as we seem to have played it a few times
carlsson
If I'm counting correctly in the summary of played games, the previous stats are: Pole Position: 6 rounds (different variants including X) Aquatron: 1 round Mountain King: 3 rounds, and the one played most recently Qix: 6 rounds (all A8 version) Popeye: 3 rounds (regular) + 1 round (arcade version) Edited February 10, 2021 by carlsson

For your pleasure, I found another video that is 6+ minutes long without gameplay, only enjoying the title music looping over and over! I agree it isn'the most advanced you've heard an AY chip play.

I would like to go there someday. ? 2
carlsson
So with about four hours left to vote, currently Qix 5200 and Popeye are tied for the win, but if doctorclu's vote is moved to Aquatron, it means that game is tied with Qix 5200.

It's exciting stuff, and there's a late surge on Mountain King after some heavy betting on the long odds... alll will be revealed at 10pm ish folks
