And how does that stop you from hitting the break key? ?
+DarkLord
I get it. Who would want to touch that?
moonlight_mile
It is some sticky tack. This way the break key feels different than the other keys so I know not to press it. Lol I though of just popping it out but just did that so I know not to touch it.
Mazzspeed
You know... If you used just a touch less sticky tack, and used it to secure a thumb tack on top of the break key with the spike pointing up, you'd have a real effective means of retraining muscle memory!
+DarkLord
You know, I bet some semi-brilliant person with a 3D printer could come up with an insert to go under the <break> key and keep it from being pressed. Make it easy to install/uninstall so you could regain access to it when needed. Just a (semi-random) thought.

As a side note...The Express Cart is a great solution as it provides a great term program that's similar to Bobterm and there's no break key bug. The only downside is that the cart is rare (although the bin/car image can be found). @Amis is working on a limited run of these cartridges for free to the "regular" Atari 8 bit BBS Users. -JP Edited August 17, 2021 by JohnPolka
Amis
The Bin and Rom are up for download on southernamis.ddns.net:23 working well on Altirra and Atari800macx.. Here is the software manual as well. Bit of a heavy project load so behind in porting to an ATR. Anyone have some spare time? Express!.pdf
Mazzspeed
The thing with the break key is that 99% of the time you'll be fine and avoid it, but that bloody 1% just does your head in!

That's because you took the half-assed route and got a 600xl. If you had gone all the way and got the 1200xl, you wouldn't be having this problem.

_The Doctor__
Express! does have a slight baud rate issue and the last version has some upload/download protocol issues. So I use the older cart version not the newer one...
