mikesk8
Hi, I have just got an XC11 tape player, which looks in a good condition. However, after connecting it to 130XE and switching power on, the light on the XC11 is not on and it does not respond to any button Later I have connected SIO2SD to the XC11 pass through SIO port and SIO2SD works ok (at least power is going through the XC11 SIO port). Any tips/ideas how to check/repair it? Its a pity as this is a nice player. Thanks, Michael Edited March 27, 2021 by mikesk8
TGB1718
This may help:- From the circuit, there's noting but a direct connection to the power LED, so as nothing else is working it suggests there's no 5V getting to the device, as the other port has the 5V on it you need to check the circuit tracks from the SIO cable connections, both 5V (pin 10) and Ground (pin 4)
_The Doctor__
or better yet put in a tape... press the play button on XC11, on Atari hold the start key down while turning on the Atari brrrrrp, press return key.... does the light turn on now and the tape play? Fred_M
The XC11 power led turns on when the computer is turned on. You don't have to load a tape. You are probably talking about an other data recorder @_The Doctor__

mikesk8
Indeed, I studied the diagram too (there is a new version on Polish forum - Diagrams) with some help. In the next days will open it and do testing. Let us see what is the problem. I will report back Edited March 30, 2021 by mikesk8
mikesk8
I have managed to fix it: ) basically, the ground motor cable (pin 6) was broken; after fixing it the player loads the games. Now the rewind is broken. The infamous cap on the rewind spring. Has anybody seen a better solution than just glueing it in? Maybe some spare parts from other players or 3d printing?
