Hello!

The authors of "River Raid On Mars" have asked to show a small preview of the game and the introduction prepared. It will not be in competition, for reasons explained at the end of the post, and either the project will be archived, completed or finished as it is.

1670981912_RiverRaidOnMars-Screenshot2-big.thumb.png.282cdcf80499581969fb0edfe101f332.png

Unfortunately some of the rules of the competition were misunderstood, it's not allowed to make hacks of third-party software, and also is not allowed to have official logos, like the Atari Fuji logo. Both are an essential part of this proposal in its conception, that's why this game has been retired from competition.

The rule that was thought to allow to be in competition is the next one:

2.3   Also allowed are:
2.3.1 submission of an already existing program if it has been extended or altered.

Finally, the aim of this post is not to make s discussion about the rules that certainly could be more clear, just to show a preview for those interested in new levels of this classic game, and the discussion of this thread should be in the already admitted entries.

Subbing out official logos etc makes sense (legal issues)

the other point listed, I can see how the confusion could exist

2.3.1 submission of an already existing program if it has been extended or altered.

Might be better as 2.3.1 submission of your original work already existing program if it has been extended or altered.

though I am not sure how they reconcile this in the past with commercial softwares that were extended... unless permission was granted by whoever owned the IP

So... Managed to finish my entry and send it :)

It's a logic/arcade game called "Blokz".
Inspired by Arcade (and console) game called "Quarth" or "Block Hole" outside Japan.
Goal is to fill rectangular shapes, clear falling tetris like shapes from screen and progress as much as you can.

Hope you'll like it :)

Cheers!

A hint to members who want to try out BrushUp (on disk C) and own an AVGCART:

BrushUp needs BASIC XE 4.1 to work which probably only a few people own as a real cartdrige.

AVG can simultaneously load a CAR and disk images, but only if all files are in the same directory of the SD card.

First assign the disk image to disk drive D1 by pressing SHIFT-1, then select the CAR file and press RETURN to boot the computer.

This does not work if you need to change the directory of the SD card in between.

tmp just now gave a workaround:

If you define a shortcut for the CAR, both files can be in different directories.

In this case use also SHIFT-1 to assign the ATR to the virtual floppy but then just press the defined shortcut of the CAR.

I'm having an idea of (kind of) similar game in my mind for several years, but I could not start working on it due to lot of technical obstacles/decisions for the design and gameplay.

I really like the way how robots are moving 1 by 1 in kind of turn-based manner... that's really nice solution.

I'm looking forward to try this game.

I'm sorry, but the title for this contest entry isn't descriptive enough.
